You know what the AT skier told the Tele skier on top of the mountain?
"See you at the bottom hippy", that always cracked me up having been a hippy and damn good one at that. I must admit I've fixed my heels for good now with the super light and well engineered Dynafit bindings.
BTW there's a bunch of hippy's out there I still can't keep up with, see you in the Trench you hippy Petch! When it comes to skiing it's all good, my 15 minutes of fame as a tele skier:

I care. I care a lot. I'd Tele again in a heartbeat if I could. Unfortunately, an arthritic toe prevents me from getting down in any reasonable stance. My right knee splays way out.
So my heels are now locked in permanently.
Oh well....at least I'm still schussing.

The most fun I ever had sliding on snow was on my Europa 99 215s, 75mm 3 pins, and leather boots. Kicking and gliding, linking tle turns down the fall line, paralleling on hard pack, corn skiing eastside chutes...all good. Obviously I care...which probably makes me some, irrelevant old hippie.
That said, I love downhilling on fixed-heel gear as well. I love it all except those confounded snow board thingys.

Chim Chim. you just did it. Telle skier disses how other people ski and then braggs about lifting their heel. fills me with the urge to vomit profusely. It's just fecking sking and as long as they are outside getting some fresh air and making turns who cares? The telle ski police care. Fck em...
BTW I doubt i would even know how to ski with my heel locked in?

Hey eastside, that pic going up chair 23 with the powder below....I've seen that scene many times. But it'll all be tracked by the time you get by the top! Look at all them people on the lift ahead of you! As I'm sure you know...the backside would still have freshies, but ya gotta hurry! Trying to ski powder at a resort stresses me out too much... watching it all get trashed.

Ha. I am on 2003 alpine ski that I bought un mounted in 2006. put telle bindings on them. My boots are garmont veloce about 10 or so years old? I desperatly need new sh#t....

I have 2 buckel and all the velcro is gone from my powerstrap :(
when you look at the new telle boots they are monsters. 4 buckels and a powerstrap. just as big or bigger than an alpine boot, 3in of fcking lift, a binding that is so stiff that when you shoot photos of telle skiers going off jumps in the park the skies don't even sagg. they are pinned to the heel by the super stiff cable. All that sh#t and the telle skiers still think their sh#t don't stink and that they are better than all the other skiers and riders on the hill solely on the fact that they are on cool(in their own mind) gear.....

As long as you shred the pow you're good in my mind. Have fun, and be safe is #1. I used to sn0wboard 30 days a year, and ski 100+. Still have never tele skied however, but really want a set up to round out my winter quiver!
