for various reasons it hasn't been a great photography weekend for me...
this is the one image I got after failing to set my intervalometer up correctly for a moon rise shoot.
At least I spent some great time with my daughter during the time, and the images would have been great... but here's what I got.

Shooting the Moon........thanks all for your inspirational photos. Ed, what you managed to include were the (I think) bay lights and water, beautiful. Mouse, awesome, as well as Edge's adopted photo with the moose. How very beyond cool. Thanks. L.
Edit: Baja Andy, would this be your birthdate? If so, celebrate and best wishes.

Alcatraz Island on the left, the Berkeley Hills are barely visible above the horizon, the shore lights of El Cerrito and Oakland, a discerning eye might pick out the Sather Tower on the UCB campus.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
(what is a good onomatopoeic way to describe howling? I understand some believe 'howl' is considered an onomatopoeia, but it never reads quite write to me ... )

Great to look at and fun to play under, but more and more it means those ~5 days when I'm not getting any sleep. Especially in winter when the light is banging around off all that white. It's definitely a love-hate relationship for me.
...There I walked, and there I raged;
The spiritual savage caged
Within my skeleton, raged afresh
To feel, behind a carnal mesh,
The clean bones crying in the flesh.

SoYo moonrise. Looking at the range E of Merced, maybe playing Sing or Gale Peaks a-boo.
Lookin' like fine cheese.I'll take what I can get, too, Ed: that's a shame, having a piece of electronics come between you and a good image.
But it's nice that you got face time with the young'un. Cheers!

Willoughby, Totally understand cause I live the same dilemma. I have French doors that the moon peeks through or blows thru big time depending on its phase. Over the doors is a thin piece of fabric. I could pull the big time thick cotton ones over them, but ya know I think, like you perhaps, I love being connected with the outside, and freedom. When the full Moon rolls around and wakes me up, I get up and praise the beauty it boasts. I know, you know, it could be worse. Cheers W.

the shot I wanted was obscured by cloud cover, but Ken sighted the Moon first and I was able to get this shot (actually I have a lot of shots...)

QITNL nice images! the lighting was difficult to say the least... we could watch the clouds to the west obscure the Sun's light on the scene... but the clouds made for some very interesting features in the sky...

Absolutely Awesome photos, QITNL and Ed. You can't know how much I appreciate these as I slave away in Valley Center hoping to complete a longggggg term project. Those pics combine the best of sunset lighting in some respects and full moon rising.Gorgeous. Thanks, Lynne

A few taken out the window of Middle Earth just now.
Ed, that was all it ought to be, and so was Q's.
Well done, lads.

Ed, Cool shot of sunset on Half-Dome and Sierra above. I guess that would be a Sierra Wave on the other side.

some of you guys must have monster lenses. It takes a huge lens for the moon to be of any size.
near Hidden Valley picnic area, looking into the moon
same general area, looking away from the moon
both taken around midnight
