Really happy the giants are not investing 100 million over 5 years into him. Time will tell if it is the best for them, but I don't think Sandoval is stable enough with his weight and with his production. He did kick ass in the playoffs, but not so much otherwise. Has been up and down after his rookie year. All the best to him though, he helped the Giants quite a bit. But knowing his history and numbers from his contract year, personally I did not want them to pay big bucks for it. If the giants didn't make the playoffs, didn't win the WS, he would be asking for at least 20 million less. Me thinks...time will tell if Boston made a good investment...

Sorry, I hope he bulks up on lobster rolls, hits .230 and the Sox finish in the cellar, watching the Giants repeat.
PS: love your trip reports.

No way the Giants can repeat without Tim Flannery, he "bailed" today
Great third base coach, and a decent guitar player/singer
Hit it Flan

Seriously?
Yeah...the guy's a pitching Ace. In a ONE TRICK PONY kinda way..
Surely there's another athlete who's proven to be more of an all-arounder Sportsman?
Probably not another one who could sell as many magazines as MadBum.

Nearly all the winners of this award have been 1 trick ponies in conventional American sports
How about Alex Honnold or Ueli Steck?
Certainly Reinhold Messner deserved this award as much or more than Lance Armstrong, Drew Brees, Tiger Wood, etc

Isn't every professional athlete a one trick pony?
Sure, Bumgarner probably can't climb well, but can Ueli Steck throw fast or swing a golf club or kayak class V?
You don't become the best by being a jack-of-all-trades

In a ONE TRICK PONY kinda way..
Unlike Kershaw, who is one of the best regular season pitchers in the NL
Kershaw is an amazing batter - career average .157 to Bumgarner's .166
Kershaw had a nice 2014 post season - ERA 7.82 to Bumgarner's 1.03
Now Kershaw does have a better WS ERA 0.00 and a 0-0 win/loss record to Bumgarner's .25 era and 4-0 win/loss
Dang one trick ponies!!!

Lol!....
I've got a 3 year old son at home so I've seen Ice Age a ton of times. Gotta say though, watching the Dodgers consistently choke is pretty damn entertaining.
