Boy, after all the excitement and buildup what a letdown! Brasil looks like they expected the Croatians
to just stand aside. FIFA gives us a ref direct from the Yakuza. Sheesh. And have you ever
seen a worse keeper than the Croat? Talk about feet of clay! And speaking of which was the
pitch slippery crap or what? At least the lights didn't go out completely.
It has to get better, right? It will tomorrow when Cameroun DESTROYS Mexico!

We won't see that Japanese ref again during this competition.
He blew that PK call by a mile. I had wished Neymar had missed it to
equalize the foul. But Oscar's goal was pretty, as was Neymar's first. . .
Spain v Netherlands tomorrow--viva Espana!@!!!

Any suggestions for internet text coverage of the World Cup. I'd really like to read about the games as I won't get to watch as many as I would like to watch.
Thanks (time warping)

Check out the website for the newspaper the Guardian (UK). They have live text / blog coverage of every game.

Yeah that was the last game for that ref, kinda glad he made the mistake for Brazil, cause I don't know if he'd be alive if he had called that against Brazil.
I agree with Reilly that that goalie was sleeping today, but almost had the pk blocked.
Modric is badass.
Flip I just search for a game then the scores come up and there is usually a live score that pops up. It gives minute by minute updates when anything happens.
Netherlands vs Spain should be good tomorrow, but I don't see Spain losing.

Not that impressed with Brazil in the opener. No Szamba. My first time seeing Croatia. I thought they held their own and regulation time could have easily ended 2:2.
Here are my predictions for today...
Mexico vs Cameroon*
Spain* vs Netherlands
Australia vs Chile*
*winner

I agree with your predictions TT. Sorry have been really busy, but will email you back soon on Milky Way Wall.
Why won't anyone start Chicharito? I think that Mexico v Cameroon might end in a draw.

Hey, TT, really going out on a limb with Spain and Chile, eh? :-)
Did I just hear that Chicharito will start on the bench? Whoa! It shouldn't
matter if Cameroun plays with any discipline. Of course, a sloppy pitch
could complicate things. As Twellman and Nistelrooy just said Cameroun's
superior physicality should be highlighted by the conditions.
GO CAMEROUN!

Mexico...bet that place went nuts.
So excited about this next game!
Go Spain!
Missed my flight (along with my 2 daughters and wife) last WC when we were all in the bar at the airport watching these two play. Well worth it though.

Reilly: you got that right. So much for my predictions.
Got to watch the 1st half of Spain vs Netherlands during lunch. Both Persie's & Robben's goals were spectacular. Spain's PK was undeserved.

Ha! Van Persie's first ranks among the all-time best. That game shoulda
been 6-0. How did Snejder miss his chance? The Spanish defense looked
old and slow. Robben really embarrassed Ramos. The Italian redeemed himself
in my eyes by not going for the Spaniards' flops in the second half.
I think Chile will have real chance against Spain. If they tie Spain then
Spain could easily be out of it on goal differential.
It will be interesting to see what FIFA does about Costa's head butt.
The wife is part Dutch and I've always been a Dutch fan so we're stoked!

I too am a Dutch fan, with not a drop of Dutch blood in me, solely because of their Johan Cruyff era teams, the ultimate underdog given the country's size. Not to mention yet another second place finish last time. I really want them to get at least one sometime, somewhere. And aside from their ugly Hack-a-Shaq approach to a really ugly final last time, too many seem to forget they played some great soccer before that. Today? Holy crap! The whole tournament was worth it just to see that second half...and the goal of the tournament in the first half!

My mom and her father (who raised me) were both born in Amsterdam, and Holland is the most libertarian country in the world, so yeah, GO NETHERLANDS.
The head goal was awesome, but what's up with Pit Bull's capri pants?
Is that going to be the next fad attire for climbers?

You should be rooting for Uruguay to get its third cup, then.
Population under 3.4 million.
The Dutch have about five times that number.

The Dutch just obliterated the Spanish style of play of moving the ball from one end of the pitch to the other in a series of one touch passes.
My parents were Spanish and Argentine and with my last name, Madrid, naturally I'm a fan of those countries in the world cup. I'm a native Californian married to a German, so the world cup is always a challenging time at our house.
