Does anyone know how you go about volunteering to go up and help clear the Tioga Road?
Just buy a couple peices of equipment and work at night.
No problem.

the current plan is to begin plowing on May 15.
Yep that's what's happening.
If you want it open earlier start shoveling.

nothin to do in cali but sit around and wait for the pass to open. its like all the skiers rushin out first week of nov jonesing to ruin their skiis. Then in april (corn) they're at a loss of what to do until the pass opens. worse is they're upset at the gubberment for not plowing the road for them. Looks like some of the people posting on this fourm do know how to have some fun without a ski lift or a snow plow-good for you!

At 7AM PDT today, TM Campground blocks opened up on www.recreation.gov/ "I got mine," as they say. . . .

They opened up for August 15 through September though...... right? pre July 15 is stil an X ("unavailable") for me.

My networks of East Side spies reports of a lot of chatter lately. Virginia Lakes opened today; Tioga might open to the gate on Friday. This intel has not yet been confirmed.

"Tioga might open to the gate" Means the road will just be open another 7.8 miles to the Tioga entrance station. From the eastside.
That would be something if 120 opened all the way across in April.

Just skied False White this morning. Good corn, a bit of wind hammered stuff up high but easy to spot and avoid. It is sure looking dry up there!

I did a trans-Sierra ski over the tioga road this week. From tioga pass to may lake rd I only walked a total of about 1 mile of dry pavement, but the snow is going fast. I'll have photos soon!

Khanom, I can hardly contain myself. So looking forward to the Sierra. I'm gearing up for this summer ..... my own crash pad, bear container and to make life a lot easier some wheels for my kayak so I don't have to carry it down to the lakes and back up again. Ahhhhhh, life iz gut! :D lynnie

The Sierra Wave is reporting that "Word came out Friday that the pass is now “anticipated” to open May 11th." Whoa Nellie will open April 26th. Not sure of the status of Sonora Pass, but it almost always opens before Tioga.
