I put out 3 bird feeders this week. Been invaded by 5 squirrels, a million house sparrows, and a handful of finches. Since yesterday, they have scattered $10 worth of feed all over the place. I shelled out raw peanuts for the squirrels so they would stop burying them all over the yard. I put the peanuts out and before the squirrels could get them, a bunch of starlings swooped in and ate them all. It's just not fair.

Zardoz, ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

You have kind heart. I hope you are able to find Sammy's people and get him back home. I'm sure they miss the cute little guy.

Dirtineye,

Thanks for posting pics your Gilbert guitar and telling us about it's creation and the big happy it delivers. The rosette is amazing. I've never seen a design like that.

Blinny,

Your "Katrina" is lovely. The Guatemalan rosewood has a wonderful orange color. Music is another special form of magic for happiness. It's great to listen to, but to play it, and on an instrument of quality is spiritual.

...all I can say about that picture is "Ooooo-Ahhh" ... I love that rosewood. I bet it smells heavenly after a few minutes of playing.

Happy Monday!

Ouch!,

Be thankful you have squirrels raiding your feeders. Around here I have rats doing the same thing. Every time I fill up a "bird" feeder I can't help but think I'm really filling up a rat-feeder.

Blinny, that photo of the guitar made me happy!!! Wish I could afford one and I wish I was good enough to make me worthy of one. Beautiful, how could it not sound good!
Peace

No thanks. Don't want a cat.

Chaz, at least the squirrels don't come into the house yet. I guess that's a good thing.

Callie, you need to check out the website "Stuff On My Cat". Seriously, no matter how down you ever feel, click on it and it's page after page of cats covered with "stuff" their owners put on them. That site never fails to make me smile in some way.

In addition to putting stuff on their cats, some dress them up in badass ways:

True True Zardoz. A year ago in February, I adopted out Pickle to a couple who are in their late 80s. Their parrot had died the Christmas before and they were SO distraught. My vet contacted me about them. So I called them out of the blue - a complete stranger - and listened to the woman grieve for about an hour regarding her bird -Winston - who was now deceased.

Then I told her I was calling because I have a bird I thought she may like to give a home to for free (fixed income folks). She broke down (and I did too of course). It wasn't easy adopting Pickle out - I wasn't looking to do so - but who could pass up this opportunity.

I drove Pickle to No. Arkansas and stayed a couple of days with them all. I cried for two weeks feeling I'd abandoned my baby bird, but I knew he was in such a fantastic home and he his. I've gone back to visit and we are in email contact. He'll come back to me when they can no longer care for him and heaven knows he'll come back spoiled.
