The solstice is on December 21st, 2012 at 11:12 UTC. I believe that translates into 3:12 AM PST (2:12?) Friday morning, which means most of us will sleep through the whole thing. Hopefully Lolli and Marlow can post a report, for the morning news feed.
Perfect. I'll be up participating in a fire ceremony. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ain't sh#t out of the ordinary that will happen tomorrow. Or, one thing I am 100% certain of anyway, that is, the world ain't gonna end anytime soon.
Just for the record, as far as the bible goes, the world isn't gonna end period, but it does say that the tribulation will come and reek havoc on it etc (wars, natural disasters, huge earthquake that will take out 100's of millions, etc) but it ain't gonna end. Although humanity would destroy itself (threw war/nuclear war, evidently) if there wasn't divine intervention. Or so that is how many people interpret Revelations and JC prophecy in the NT, etc!
I don't mean to start some epic discussion here, just saying how the Christian church sees it. Also, doods that set a time on it, like the dood/church a year or so ago, are wack (i know, U think all Christians are wack, lol) because, no one knows the exact times or date (but you can know the signs that it is near).
Wudevah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're either on the bus or waiting at the bus stop.
The Mayans were also known to use mind altering religious substances such as psilocybin mushrooms. There have been many hieroglyphics and statues found with mushrooms on them. There are also records from some of the first Spanish priests of the use of the mushrooms (which they tried to stop).

The wife left me Christmas cash to shop while she is at Dickens.
WTF? Last days and she leaves me (with cash) when the world is ending at 3:11 AM?
Soo tempted to go the hookers and blow route right now...

Yeah, you might want to try to pick up some good karma points on the last day.

My nine-year-old sent 5.12c at PG Sunnyvale today. (Yeah, I know I'm bragging. That's the dad-goggles ... ) Also testified this morning at the San Mateo County permit-renewal hearing for Handley Rock climbing park. So she goes out on a high note.
As for me, had a cholestorol-rich dinner and a fine, fine Cinnabar cabernet. (This from the old Fox Hollow vines off Hwy 9, before they ripped out and replanted with Phyloxera-resistant strains. They're not making any more of that old-school stuff.) Will sleep in tomorrow and see if I wake up dead.

Spoken like a man who has a lot of ground to make up! ;)
(Obviously, I am not at the club two blocks away on Topanga Blvd following the flight of non-fancy, however easy the access may be.)

I'm all set except for one thing.
I know that the 25th anniversary gift should be silver, the 50th is gold, etc. What is the proper present to give someone for the end of the world?
I'm thinking a gift certificate for some fisting.

don't worry everybody... I'll catch the asteroid and save you all....
I will perish in the process...but its a small price to pay to save humanity in its current form..
BTW - There is no after life... you die, you're dead..... no do over's or second chances.
That is the way life works

well my little "pre-apocalypse" passed on the 18th, although i notice it was the day all hell seemed to break loose for me on here.
mister E and i probably don't agree on much in the realms either of politics or metaphysics, but we know each other as climbers and would be willing to vouch for each other as certifiably of the climbing realm. i think it's interesting that we both came to the conclusion separately that mister graniteclimber is some kind of a phony climber.
