Some superlative trip reports have appeared on ST in the last few months...including some beautiful ones in the Tetons.

"Thank you's" and "good job" may mean little to other readers...but posts of gratitude DO mean something to the creators.

OK DMT! I read you loud and clear (just how I can't explain, it's got something to do with cross-firing in the cochlear nuclei and the inferior colliculus with the gyrus fornicatus, diencephalon, and mesencephalon.

Away we go

In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans

this part is know as the chorus, I think that's Latin

We fired our guns and the British kept a'comin.
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin' on
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

We looked down the river and we see'd the British come.
And there must have been a hundred of'em beatin' on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring.
We stood by our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.

Anyway I have posted on Trip Reports and also have occasionally drifted off topic (just far enough so's I could say I'd been there).

Oh yeah, can we just have trip reports button?

Yes, that is spot on Jennie. Those acknowledgements, as simple as they are, do go a long way. I'd say if you read and appreciate a TR, that's the minimum you can do (and it's certainly not a minimum thing for most TR writers). And feel free to add more if inspired!

Agree there have been a lot of kick ass TR's lately, of many ilks; have enjoyed them all. Get creative and let your freak flag fly (like I have to ask for the latter part!).

More of us should use our god-given right to bump

Huh?

This is a climbers' forum? About climbing? What per cent? And how much Canadian content?

Yes, I have posted on a climbing TR. Honestly.

Dmt has a good point about not worrying if comments in the tr get a little off topic. Every message is a bump!! Also running Tr's seem to be the rage right now... See Marks last one or my Cali thread. That thread may have been a lot of effort but one of the best parts was coming home and reading it again!!!

Locker,

How long has it been since you ate a donut? If more than 24 hours, take 2 donuts ASAP. If you don't feel better in 15 minutes then go to the nearest ER.

You want more emphasis on climbing threads? You have 3 choices:

1. Post more on the ones that qualify - according to your criteria.
2. Post less on the ones that don't.
3. Implement categories to make it more convenient for those who don't want to wade through the morass - a convenience - sort of like fixed gear and anchors - which ironically is something the OP frequently rants about.

Otherwise what you have is the raw face of the climbing community - DMT's "tribe" that he is so fond of of idolizing - gives one pause - or maybe not...

Eric, I have expounded on the subject of anchors but, dear me, I don't think that "rant" would be a descriptive verb for my efforts.

As a writer of TRs, I appreciate every single comment and TFPUs. As a reader of TRs, I know the writer probbably appreciates any and all comments so I try to post something.
I enjoy reading about anyone's psych to be out in our beautiful world and write about it.

Of course. Many times.

It's the bitter ex-climbers that have chosen to put their lack-of-climbing angst into the golden vessel of political and religious rants that don't, methinks.

We grabbed an aligator

we filled its mouth with cannon balls

and when we set the powder of

Okay, I've posted similar sentiment a number of times and get beat down every time. I'll do it one more time and wait for the hate posts.

Good climbing related threads are continuously dropped off the page because of political threads. The site needs to create a separate arena for political threads, like there are for gear reviews, etc. Seeing good TRs and climbing threads drop off to see more political spew (for the 40,000th time) which will not change anyone of the participants viewpoints only dilutes this forum's reason for existance.
