Werner, You work for the feds. What's your take on it? Unfortunately we're stuck with a two party system. The Democrats have usually been the ones to stand up for the parks. Also, if Obama, as Clinton said last night, changes the loan structure for college loan payback amounts to be based on a percentage of ones income, that alone is enough for me to vote for him. My girlfriend is a nurse practitioner and has already benefited from his program of the government helping to pay for loans to people in the medical field if they work for non-profits. As Clinton said, it will help someone wanting to practice in a small town....

What are you starting a new political thread for? You must just be bored and your wife wouldn't listen to you any more. Go put this in the other thread. You should be banned.

The rest of you are hypocrites.

More than 20 years and people still forget that Slick Willey's greatest talent is talking you into getting fukt by him!

At least Reagan and the Bushes were upfront about it. They told you straight out they were going to f*#k you over. And most of the f*#kees still voted for them. Amazing.

I've never had a television as an adult, connected as a TV that is. (I've had one so as to see movies on VCR/DVD, but that's all.) Not something I was used to when young, so I've never gotten into the habit. I'm not quite sure how people find time to watch the average 3 - 4 hours of TV per day, or whatever it is.

The last few years I've sometimes watched TV with my father, keeping him company. There sure doesn't seem much worth watching in the evenings.

I saw Clinton's speech at my neighbor's. The situation was very stressful. Maybe that contributed to poor control of his fingers.

But it was a masterful speech. He was able to present a real argument to an audience that wanted only to cheer. Very hard to do that.

Ever since peak oil, our continental oil resources being the item undergirding america's hegemony, I have wondered how our progression to a smaller nation would proceed. With the adoption of the multiple choice question many years previous, I should have foreseen the failure of our educational system. But I did not. Unfortunately education is what makes constitutional democracy, our form of government, possible.

So I have to conclude, whether incremental or traumatic, our form of government is in the balance. In Russia following the end of the monarchy, the Bolsheviks who were a minority, slew the Mensheviks in order gain power. Hitler also apparently had his co-premier slain in order to gain complete power. Caesar had similar difficulties. It has been a well travelled road.

Hopefully we will fight our way out of this mania for complete power.
