Obama just called her.
He told her she didn't earn that medal. Someone else got it for her.
Somewhere, she had a teacher. There was a road the government built to the trap & skeet range. There was a guy at the Post Office, behind the passport window who actually earned that medal for her.
She might think she is so smart, or worked hard, but Obama set her straight. "Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there."

Well, if it doesn't require coordination, fitness, use of major muscle groups, and sustained aerobic and occasional anaerobic exercise, and if the winner can't be objectively determined, it may not be a sport. The one exception I'd make would be archery, at least traditional archery, given its ancient roots.

There are a TON of pretty silly Olympic games out there. Why anyone would have anything negative to say, though, is I guess where my brain breaks. The idea that the narrative just HAS to reveal itself... really? Can't people just be happy for someone without the debate devolving into a 'is-this-something-that-I-approve-of? What are you, Right wing christians? bwahahaha!

I'd say one bronze in the decathlon is worth more than her five gold medals .

Shack ( the OP)....Kim Rhode didn't win gold in five consecutive Olympics as your title indicates. She has bagged three golds, one silver, and a bronze medal.
I know, you're right, my bad.

Jeez... Wanted to reply to this on page 2, but the phone wouldn't cooperate.
Quite simply, the Olympics are about activities that involve one of three things: 1. faster/higher/farther, 2. accuracy, 3. a combination of 1 and 2. Skeet absolutely falls into the the second of those, and seeing as shooting events have been part of the Modern Games since their inception, if you don't like it, don't watch. I was completely humbled the first time I stepped on a Skeet course, and that's coming from a childhood of shooting regularly and doing fairly well in Trap. I can't even imagine the amount of training needed to do what she did, and personally I competed at a fairly high level in a different Olympic sport (Men's Epee).
As for the 'softest' Olympian, I guess I can point you to Olhaho Korobka, who won Silver in Beijing and Gold the other day in 75+kg Women's clean&jerk. IIRC, she threw 400+ pounds over her head like it was nothing, and the bar was looking like a piece of spaghetti from the weight. Mind you, I'm not the one calling her soft, as clearly she's anything but. Looks can be deceiving, and there's an obscene amount of skill and balance needed in high level weight lifting that's not readily apparent, just like in the shooting events.

The South Korean archer who supposedly is "legally blind" is anything but. It's a myth.
A day after setting the first world records of the 2012 Games, Im Dong-hyun led South Korea to a bronze medal in the team event Saturday and somehow managed to leave behind more questions than answers about exactly how impaired his eyesight is.
At one moment, speaking through an interpreter, Im described himself as farsighted and said the colour in the target — almost 77 yards away — appeared “blurry, not bad ... like a drop of paint in the water.”
A moment later, he said he didn't need glasses to drive or read, unless he was tired, describing his problem as “old man's eyes.” At yet another, he said the vision in his left eye was 20 percent of a normal sighted person and 30 percent in the right. Not long after that, his coach, Oh Seon-Tek, raised that number to 60 percent and laughed at the notion that his star pupil had any problem seeing the target at all.
Finally, after Im was asked directly a second time whether he was legally blind, he grinned widely and replied: “It's really a matter of common sense. If I were legally blind, do you really think I could participate in the Olympics?

I like the gamesmanship of the SK.
Vincent Hancock just defended his Gold Medal in Mens Skeet. He looks anything but out of shape.
