Got my request filled today. CAMP 4 #35. In the middle of the action. Just where I wanted to be! Yea! WAHOOOO! Camp 4 is the best. Lot's people and good times.

Hi Cait! I'm pretty sure that I'm staying in Camp 4 again this year, and have offered to help in whatever way would be useful. Last year it took 2 - 3 hours each day to look after the camping - checking people in, issuing tent and car tags, keeping an eye on things, reporting to the Camp 4 ranger and Ken, orientation and answering questions, etc. Which is fine, if it means we're looking after ourselves, and reducing the effort for NPS and others.

The biggest challenge was people who didn't show up when they said they would, and who didn't tell anyone. There's high demand for site in Camp 4 at the end of September, and if there are no-shows, it's best to reallocate them, but hard to do when you're not sure what's happening.

I liked your "sorority girls climb Half Dome" thread - that's one way to get the attention of the local male adolescents!

Still haven't received conformation, but as long as I get a spot, I'll be hitching down 395 from the airport with a sign that says 'Yosemite Facelift'. Keep an eye out.

Brandon, which airport? Chances are that a YARTS bus connects from the airport to the Valley, even from the east side. But perhaps someone will be coming over, and you can catch a ride.

I could and may bus it over, but sometimes hitching is really fun.

It all depends on the day. Some days, I just want to get somewhere, other days, it's all about the journey.

:)

Edit; Reno/Tahoe

Khanom, maybe the powers that be can overbook by 1 due to a techno glitch.
I hope it works out!

Well yes, Yeller Pines is where the hoity toity people stay, while us peons stay in steerage at Camp 4. But it all works out.

As someone mentioned, it's quite possible that someone at YP will cancel, leaving room for Khanom and partner.

It's only about a 15 minute walk from Camp 4 to YP, or alternatively to the Visitor Centre. Plus close to the cafeteria. Very convenient.

Turns out she never received the request and now YP is full. I'm absolutely not saying it's her fault... who knows what happened...

The question is not whether we can all be in YP, but what is happening with the email, when we're all emailing the same address.
I too have heard nothing. Maybe I'll see y'all next year.
