Ultimately, it will be up to the states to determine whether they want to legitimize same sex marriage in their jurisdiction but, given that this thread even exists, I believe we all understand just how risky of an issue it was to stand behind.

Maybe, maybe not. Under the plaintiffs' logic in Perry v. Brown, which has been adopted by the Ninth Circuit, denial of the right to gay marry violates the US Constitution. Unless that decision is reversed, gay marriage will not be a states' rights issue, but rather will be federal law.

Interesting that Obama, who is an expert in constitutional law, thinks that this is a states' rights issue. If he's right, that doesn't sound good for the pro-gay-marriage position (whoops, that doesn't sound right) in the pending court case.

Plenty of high school pranks have been played in Camp 4 by young men, were you in on any???????

I relieved to say I don't think I even bullied or humiliated a person like Romney is accused of doing, nor do I regard it as a "prank"

I acknowledge that high school was a long time ago except that Romney's current out of touch and lacking compassion behavior seems to match his roots

Fatty, I wouldn't vote for any politician who never tried pot. This day and age, that much dorkiness can't be trusted

I think we're seeing a pattern with Romney. First the dog, now this. There's a callousness and a disconnectedness to his actions.

Kudos to Obama for finally stating he supports gay MARRIAGE. No there should not be a separate term for gay marriage vs straight, because a separate term would be used to discriminate.

From a dork, so consider the source:

Gay marraige is not about people. It is about economic benefits that our government and many businesses provide to married people and not to unmarried people. Until the marraige penalty was largely removed as a disincentive in the tax structure, there was little talk of gay marraige.

No one is denying gay people the right to vote. I don't see it the same as voting equality for women or minorities. No one is compelling labor and selling children, so I don't see it as even close to slavery. In a world of medical directives and powers of attorney, many of the humanitarian reasons are red herrings.

BTW - now that pensions are largely gone and health care is being socialized, the economic benefits associated with marraige are diminishing. The urge to have legal institutions recognize marraige will diminish as the tangible economic benefits disappear. You can observe that phenomena in the number of older people who choose not to marry due to the potential loss of economic benefits.

I was hoping you'd post on this thread, Fat Dad, because I knew you to be a person of faith, and I suspected your take would match mine. Even though our politics differ greatly, I always appreciate your posts.

I must say, though, that I'm glad that fattrad posted on this thread as well.

Thanks again for weighing in (so to speak).

I went to a prep school and saw worse, but that was more than a prank or high jinks.
He should acknowledge what it was and at least do some justice to the memory of Lauber.

I get all these auto-bot calls from Romney because I'm in the NRA, but Paul is more pro-gun.

Sure, Paul isn't going to win, but (while still apprehensive) Obama hasn't threatened my guns or tried to cut what little hair I have,..

The "gay kid" in my highschool class wore womens clothes, piercings, make up, walked, talked, and talked about all the crazy sex with boys he's had.

He was also a Black Belt in Karate, his parent's enrolled him in it so he could take care of himself.

He didn't get picked on after he broke the first kids nose.

Yo cry-babies,

You want to sin. You want to be able to do whatever you want to do with no restraint. You got that to some degree. Eventually you'll get it all. The USA will be The Las Vegas of the World.

But I'm telling you, that you won't escape the consequences for doing sin from GOD unless you are forgiven through the Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross and you ask for that forgiveness personally, and go and sin no more. Will we sin again? Yes. But at least you know who to go to for forgiveness. You're not in the dark anymore.

What do you not understand? Am I here to pass laws against you sinning? No. Those Laws were already passed by GOD thousands of years ago and mankind ignores them at their peril. We don't need any new laws. He gave them all already. Abide by them.

I'm here to tell you don't do it. Don't sin. There are eternal consequences. It's all I can do. The inquisition shouldn't have happened. Jesus never forced or twisted any one's arm to follow him and to abide by his statutes, which are the Laws of GOD. He tells us the truth. We either abide by them or we don't. Those who did atrocities in his name are guilty, period. GOD will deal with them.

But in the end all debts are owed and will be paid. Judgement will come. We can't escape the consequences or the Judgment that will come unless we are forgiven through Christ Jesus.

You can not be in a homosexual relationship and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be in a gay marriage and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be an adulterer and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be a murderer and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

The list can go on.

Klimmer;

It sounds like to me you are the judge and the jury.

As for truth there is no truth all you have is faith: faith, hope, trust or belief and that’s it nothing else, no truths.

Is your faith so strong that the next time you go climbing and let’s say you are up 500 feet, you come to an anchor, clip in and now ready to rap down. You reason now and think: No god will guide me down without the rope; I do not need this rope to rappel, try it and see. My question will it work.

I know ignore Lost but you just read it.

..................

Hey bud you got sucked into the darkside of fake and ubercontrol freak pastors who are Wolves in Sheeps clothing. They will destroy your life maybe your eternity and rip you off for everything they can while at it. All the while smiling and thinking they are doing good.

All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. (Isaiah 64:6)

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.(JESUS QUOTED in Matt 5:28)

SO thats a pretty harsh outlook on Hetero behavior from the man himself. If what you say is true I am going to hell and everyone honest with themselves will realize they ae going to hell also..

We are all sinners from the day we are born to the day we die.

----------------

As to everyone agreeing on the bible and it's laws and what god expects of us.. never met two who agreed.. God has his judgement but we sure don't

Since we CANNOT agree and should not presume to know it all I prefer not to give government the power to make decisions based on these highly contentious issues. Terrible things happen when we do.

Let the people behave and be blessed or not..the government merely serves

__As to a gay married couple entering the kingdom of god..They can and most certainly have.. I for one as a christian do not presume to tell Jesus who he cannot save.

I will not Deny Christ in that manner.

Klimmer states with complete conviction of his knowledge of the BIBLE:

You can not be in a homosexual relationship and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be in a gay marriage and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be an adulterer and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

You can not be a murderer and inherit the Kingdom of GOD.

actually, I am pretty sure Klimmer is wrong about this.

Conditions of Forgiveness

Although God is always ready and willing to forgive us, He requires two things of us as conditions of forgiveness: repentance and forgiveness of others.

1) Repentance. Repentance means a sincere resolve to turn away from sin and toward God.

From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." (NIV, Matthew 4:17)

So you see Klimmer, you CAN live a full life of murder, adultery, enslavement of others,
even, gasp, homosexual acts!

And all you have to do, on your death bed at the last minute, is say to yourself because nobody else might be listening, that you "repent" for your life of sins, and ask for "forgiveness", of course you have to "mean it" like be real sincere.

AND THATS IT!

YIPPIE!

You get to go to heaven right away!

COOL, right Klimmer?

OK Klimmer, don't make me quote the Bible at you:
If a man says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 1 John 4:20
Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone. It is merely a vehicle for two people to have God or society be a witness to their love for one another through the vehicle of marriage. Don't judge. Just deal with it. Last time I checked you weren't the God Cop. If it's wrong (and it's not your call to make), let God sort it out.

This is one of Biden's verbal gaffs that actually did some good.

Remember when he "borrowed" the speech of a British Labour leader?
(It was actually a pretty good speech, but,..)
It wasn't until he jumped down those contractors throats that I forgave him that one, but whether it was guts or just goofiness he moved the process along.

Too bad a single issue can so polarize the electorate.
