Umm here's the deal sports fans..... play money is just a tool for us to use. We can make its value whatever you want, but play money is free at our private table. Get it?

So it is only us at the table ie: private table. We all start with 1000 chips. We play, they rake off the play money.... we finish... add up the total chips in play (after the rake) assign a value to said chips percentage wise, pay out to each other via paypal. Sounds easy enough.

Any questions?

Edit: Or, if you big time gamblers want to go to the hassle of setting up a real money account at Pokerroom, we can have a tourney table just for us. Cost is something like 5 bucks each and a buck for the privledge. They time it, give us a password protected table and increase the blinds etc. For this they get the buck. Like a $10, +1.50 thing.

For those who don't have a clue what language Nature is speaking, and who don't really want to read a couple thousand pages on poker theory, pick up a copy of Positively Fifth Street (by J. McManus).
It's a damned entertaining book even if you have no real interest in poker.

And to think I couldn't speak that language year ago. Oooops... that was a tell that Russ didn't need to know.

Good tip on the book. A friend of mine read it and very much enjoyed it.

I play way to much poker....I'm totally in for the climbers tourny.

Here's one for you....playing in a live tourny the other day. It's late in the tourny there are about 15 players left out of 50 or so.

I have 2700 in chips...and I'm sitting second at my table...big stack is very big, but he's played horribly and been very lucky.

So the hand goes like this....

first couple of people fold(blinds are 50-100)- Mr. big stack calls-I have KJo(on the button) and call. Small blind goes all in for 250 total, big blind then goes all in for another 150(or 400 total). Mr. big thinks about it and calls, I think awhile and also call. I know the 2 all inner's well and put them both on small to medium PP. Flop comes 5c7dKh. Mr. big checks and I quickly go all in for another 2300. He thinks awhile then calls. Turns over A8o. Turn? 8 River? 8. I'm done and captian lucky is that much richer....the other 2 all in's had PP 3's and A6.

Russ, in a tournament, you play til one person has all the chips.

You'd have to figure out prizes for first second third and whatever.

I'm kinda hell bent on winning a seat for the WSOP right now anyway though. Got close to winning a satelite seat tonight, but I blew it out my ass after two and a half hours. One DUMB play.

I kiinda forgot for a sec that you can lose on any hand, and then you aint going to the final 50. So I made a stupid play. Didn't even have to bet. didn't have to call.

I had a pair of Js and an ace kicker at the flop, only problem was, the guy I had to call had pocket 6 6 and hit a set on the flop.

And I knew to fold. just give up that 16k bet when he put his 75 k out there.

But I didn't.

There was some very large talk about getting a game together on poker room last night.

Went there, no Mussy, no Supertaco table, nothing.

Mussy you're all talk.

HAHA, Russ called someone a pantyliner.

Let's do this like the open source hammer thing, start a thread and state the conditions, and ask who's in.

Working title: The Open Source Poker Project.

I vote for a tournament, no live games, or live games on the side.

We can discuss the entry fee and prizes, but there should be some climbing gear prizes in this thing as well as cash...

Get Yates Gear and Fish Gear to sponsor it, LOL!

I'm kinda low stakes. I like the idea of a tournament. Here's a suggestion:

$20 buy-in

Blinds start at $10-$20 and double every half-hour (can you set that up on pokeroom?)

Winner takes all

It's been too long since I played hold-em, and even longer since I've played 'flip the sweet-n-low packet'. Good times. I think it could happen soon. Russ, interested in a home game?

wake up rummies... this thread is like two years old (as are all the others about POKER) and there is no game.

Dirt is probably still working on that wireless problem in his basement. Don't think he will be making the game.

I don't play much tese days, too drugged up. I still have over 250 positive without ever making a deposit though.

I play mostly in a club called wannatalkpoker. the price is not good on a winnings per entry dollar, but the competion is a lot batter that what you can get for a few bucks, and we do have some reasonalby goodtournaments.

My friends there took up a collection to allow me to play 30 5+ .50 games on pokerstars, where if I pick the right games with no rebuys and high guraantees, the potential earnings are out of sight relative to the 5.50 entry, and if I can stay on top of the drug situation I'm going to do it. I used to be able to at least place in any game that paid 400-600 places, no matter the field size, but that was pre-drugs. I'm hoping that 5.50 will get me jsut enough competition that the real bozos are not playing but someone like me can make a play now and then and actually have teh opponent think hahahha.

I would hate to waste the money because I'm too much of a mess to play though, so we will see. Could alwasy use the money for stuff medicaid won;t pay for.

Oh as for who called. barry greenstein. he was really nice. I hope I didn't make him think I'm an idiot LOL. but I was all drugged up and stunned to hear from him.

It made my day.

He asked what my favorite poker show was and I said poker after dark, and he agreed with that. too bad they have so many commercials, but that show is one where you can actually learn something, as long as you realize that most people DO NOT play like those pros, and if yo utry the things you learn against people who never think, you won't do too well, LOL.

I just don't avhe the discipline or patience any more to out last 9600 goofballs to get to the few who are trying to have a game of poker and not a crapshoot. It used to be a challenge, now it's just irritating and with all these drugs I can't do it.

Oh well, maybe I'll win one of those 5 dfollar games-- thirty chances gives me a pretty good shot, and besides that's about all I have time for anyway, and with ONE first or a few second or third, I could play some high stakes games, enough to see if I can hack that level.

my club has some members in AL nad some in GA nad we were going to try to get a trip to a casino in mississippi or looseranna and do one live tournament, but I don't think I can make the trip or sit up that long any more to play one, so, that probably won't happen.

THe wireless problem got fixed, as much as it can be without a new PC. TURns out we needed better more powerful networking gear than the charter guy told us. when the guy who knew something explained it, one changes of gear and bingo.

Still, a ten year old PC is just a loser, but I think someone is going to give me an outcast with a better cpu and usb 2 built in, and that will make everything just fine. BUT Poker stars works great right now.

The only real trouble is, Charter communications has a bad habit of going down just when you really don't need that, ans I'd hate to have big money at stake on a weekend ( they crash a lot on weekends here) and get dropped for two hours. UGH.

Barry Greenstein? Did he tell you to watch out for those Kingsbury brothers? They are sharks!

Barry always comes off as a great guy and the donation thing he does is pretty swell too..... must be in the millions by now. good man.

Since you say you can't last too long before the internet drops or the meds zonk you.... maybe try the Monday tourney. With FishFinder and FatTrad in there you will at least see or partake in some fast knockouts!

"shuffle up and deal!"
