grammici stuff sucks! I worked in retail for a few years and I think took more of these back on warranty than we sold. And who wants cotton pants to climb in anyway? Buy some Carharts if thats what you need.

Phil, Thanks for your honest opinion. We always made every effort to delivery a quality product. I would be sad to know if this happened prior to ’99.
As for who wants to ROCK climb in cotton I would venture to guess about 90 percent of the population. If you can get the unrestricted movement you need from Carharts thats great they make a good product.

I don't get the infatuation w/ Carhardts. I hate to say it, but lycra tights make more sense than those 10 lb. lumberjack pants on hot summer days.
I think for myself I remain a fan of the admittedly unattractive and undurable Gramicci quick dries b/c they do just what I want them to do (stay comfy, stay dry, minimally hot, protect me from chafing in my harness, don't stretch, stick, and bunch up in every wide crack around).
More durable pants aren't as cool, slippy, and low-profile, and cuter pants with more flattering cuts end up below my harness and up around my knees. Plus, some looks are better left to the models...If you've got a little muffin top going on, there's just no need to dress it up w/ a harness.
I have my share of cute but not super functional climbing outfits, but everyone makes that stuff now. It seems that there are fewer and fewer options for stuff that will serve a girl well on long days/weeks of climbing.

Bring back the shirts!
I realize you may have to buy fabric/rights back from that 'other' Gramicci
But to the rest of us (at least) it's worth it.
She's going to college in 19 months, my old shirts aren't gonna make it

Great photo Jaybro, but on to Carharts. some of you are, i think, just not hardcore enough. i go through a pair in 3 to 6 months. Lycra or any of that other cheep crap i would eat for breakfast. but i work construction, and skate in them. i use them for mushroom-picking, and hiking. luv the pockets-my cell fits perfect in the side tool pocket. Take me climbing & i'd wear them. i buy them a size bigger and wash them alot. And there made in the USA.

Mike, those shirts for gals? Bright colors hot pinkish..loose the box.. add darts for curve appeal, longer/different collar, larger buttons/shorter sleeves. Might fly?

Hey Grammicci,
Designer jeans, babe.
'Member those Jordache bill boards from the eighties?
Kauk scores lots of trim owing partially to those way hip boot cut Wranglers in which he strides.
Werner and Dale were the fashion leads on the straight leg 501 with cuff; my personal best 'leggin to date. But hey, I'm all hips and no leg circ.
All the beanie head v-50 kids wear jeans with pirate cuffs, when they're not sportin' something grey and ghurka like - dig?
We may be able to skirt this whole pants thing anyhow: 'cause maybe the jumpsuit is in the wings. I'm gonnah go over to the Old School Jt Pics thread and wait fer Zippy to show up, with his most functional take on the topic of "crimper casuals"

For the Women:
No Joke here: the runners are out ahead of us on this one.
Yup, the spandex sport skirt.
'Would be great for bouldering, ya, tough with a harness, but hey, gotta break the mold somewhere...
Invented by a triathlete, they are in fact in some climbing shops, Outdoor Divas in Boulder...

Denim! Now you’re talking Tar. Absolutely my favorite pant back in the day.
This is a shot from one of my Australian Trips back in ’81 I hammed up the pose because the route was called “Look Sharp” no shit! So it was obviously a must do.
The temp that day was about 32 degrees C(somewhere in the 100 F range)and this cheeky little moment ended up being quite the desperate little show.
I can make some denim happen! I wish it was a little stronger though but who cares at least you’ll Look Sharp!
Jaybro, Nice shot, they grow up fast don’t they. On the shirt Accomazzo reminded me the little guy in the print had lightning bolts on his shirt. Still a cool print very elementary being our first one. But the style itself is sure dated. You think?
FYI, the pose on the figure came out of the Gil “master of rock” book. Thought everyone would like to know that.

FWIW...Prana, TNF, and Patagonia are all doing jeans this season.
Maybe 4-5 years back Stonewear designs did climbing skirts and dresses. I don't think they sold very well. The ones that we had at the gym all sat there until they went on clearance. I think you were supposed to wear them over your binki while you bouldered. Or maybe it was like apres ski clothes...They were supposed to communicate the activity that you do w/o being used for actually doing it.
Maybe the speedskating/downhill skiing suits will be the next rage?

Melissa:
Alright, alright, (hah)
You got me.
The skirts, maybe I was joking a wee bit.
The Pink Skirts Picture:
(My wife is back row, second from left)
They took 1st in the Colorado Relay in those skirts (Something like 170 miles from Idaho Springs to Glenwood Springs)
No doubt, a gal performing a nice runner's stride is in a far less compromising position than she might be in a stem, high step etc.
Anyhow,
