The tour is one of the reasons we are willing to pay thru the nose for our cable package...'nuff said. This year should be pretty exciting, no clear cut leader. Garmin is kicking ass so far- cool!!!

Ooooh the scenery...especially when they get to Provence and there's gorgeous grey limestone everywhere. They're going back to Gap this year too, near Ceuse.

I'm rooting for Andy Schleck but like Thor too. Would be nice to see Cadel do well too.

The best roadside decoration I can remember from years past was a bunch of cows that were each painted with a different color winner's jersey - polka dot, green, yellow, white....that was a hoot.

Great snapshot Dee ee. They seemed to be digging deep for such an early stage

quite a bit of carnage today.

Quote of the day:

According to his Rabobank team, Gesink was "involuntarily acquainted with the asphalt".

Mini-tantrum by Cav, but he earned it today. Great finish.

I wonder how many of these guys climb? Tyler Farrer, from Washington state, does.

Really tough day for the Americans. Looks like VdeV and Danielson made the split.

I guess all those years Johann avoided bad luck with his teams ended this year. This might be one of those karma check things.

sully, a lot of those old pros turned team management stay very fit.
But some let it go too. Like these two guys, though I must say the guy on the left was a coach and not a racer. The next day they staged a mock race up Torrey Pines

Edit: This shot was taken at the Eddy B fantasy cycling camp to help raise money for his house that was lost in a fire in 2003 IMRR. It was also a reunion for the 1984 Olympic cycling team. And yes, Greg had put on quite a few extra lbs

"More riding, less eating, Greg", is probably what Eddy is telling him in that photo.

Rock Racing was all flash, and no substance. ( illegal substances, maybe )

Major carnage today! Chris Horner really had his bell rung but sounds like
he is ok. I was out cold for 3 hours after a crash once.

That Manx Missile is really something. Anybody know what gear he is pushing?
He's going like 70k but his feet aren't going that fast - WTF?
Is it like a 58x10 ?

Having done a spot of racing meself BITD maybe I should have stuck it out.

Thor Hushovd - "Jo, bike racing has been verry verry gud to me!"

A great Tour this year! So far the riding has been very exciting and unpredictable. Lots of possibilities over the course of three weeks.

It was a bad day for some of my faves.

Chris was on his way to the hospital and continued to ask (multiple times) "did I finish the stage?" He also asked,"did I cut my face?"
I'm afraid he may not start tomorrow.

I'm pretty bummed about todays turn of events. If there was one person I'd want to win le tour it would be Chris.
Go Cadel!

Reilly: Cav's using Fabien's old battery powered BB. ;)

Quote of the day.

Bruyneel talking about Horner...

He finished the stage and I think basically he's OK physically ... But we're taking him to the hospital to have a scan. He doesn't really know where he is right now or what happened.

Today was good. Tejay Vangarderen was going for it! I picked him for overall white jersey.

All that work earned him the same time as Hushovd.

Brutal stage, Vino, VandenBroeke, Dave Z. (and others) are out. Hoogerland's fall onto the barbed wire (and Flecha onto the tarmac) was nasty, he was shredded.

Yay for Voeckler, love that guy!

My friend did this on a mtn. bike ride, bad news.

Dee e, that was just the nastiest crash Hoogland was involved in. Wow, the carnage at this year's tour just keeps coming. It's just the rudest shock in the world to be riding in a bunch and have someone go down right in front of you, no where to go but down.
