Hopefully we are close to some sort of resolution to the hit and run aspect of this.

I just saw a nice poster for the Zach Bike Ride, would love to post a pic of it here.

Some details:

Zachary Parke Memorial bike ride

Friends and supporters of Zachary Parke are having a memorial bicycle ride to honor Parke’s life and rally cyclists.

WHEN: Gather at 5 p.m. Saturday, depart at 5:30 p.m.

WHERE: Town Clock, Pacific Avenue and Water Street in Santa Cruz

WHAT: The slow-paced ride will lead cyclists from downtown Santa Cruz to Empire Grade Road near the West Entrance of UC Santa Cruz where Parke was struck.

[Ed] Sad news just coming in.

Long Live Zach!!

Man, so sad - he was such a positive man. Always enjoyed Zach's TRs.

RIP.

Edit: Thanks Murcy.

So much heart break, Zach so young, the "alleged" perp is young. My son is close in age to them both and I think of how young life, with all the world of promise, can be wiped out or ruined forever in an instant. And parents left shattered beyond all comprehension.

My thoughts go with all those on the bike ride today. Susan

A whole lot of folks came out today for the Zach Parke Memorial Ride in Santa Cruz. So many, it was hard to get everyone into one shot. A wonderful tribute to Zach.

Thanks for posting the pictures Mike. It was great to see so many people out there. Many climbing friends, and many more from the local bike community. It was a gorgeous evening, a little fog but some sun too.
I still can't bear to look at the pictures and all the messages that people posted on the fence, I just fall apart. I used to be a hard man, what happened to me.
His Mum was there, and it was great hearing her tell stories of him, his sister looks uncannily like him.
