I was in a dental office recently and picked up Neanderthal Quarterly, and read that some primitive wooden ice tools were revently uncovered.
So it must be pretty easy. So easy a caveman could do it!
Bwahaahhaha!!!!

Another cool thing about ice is that it can be completely diferent from one day to the next. Cold weather can make it so much harder, but if you can overcome it you might be the only one out there for those of you that want a little solitude. Rock pretty much stays the same. In fat ice you can also put a "hold" almost any where you want.

My experience on steep ice is very limited, but it's an amazing feeling. I love it.
Here's a short vid of Will Gadd showing pretty sweet technique: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjMVSlQilKk

The Neanderthal perished because the ice went away.
That is how easy it is.
Though I'm sure I've climbed with a few in my time.
My woman thinks Neanderthal man was a little a head of modern man.
