FACT: Snowboarders scrape the good snow off the the steep runs.
Yes, this happens if you are unfortunate enought to ski in socal with the socal boarders, many of whom suck.
FACT: Skiers make artful moguls on steep runs.
Moguls ARE fun. Just another great aspect to the sport. Luckily most snowboarders and gapers avoid moguls.
FACT: Snowboarders are on their ass every single run.
See #1 above. When the snow isn't boilerplate I try to not sit at all. You just stomp a platform to stand in. It's a pain to get back up. When the snow is hard it's tough to create a flat spot and you do end up sitting sometimes which sucks.

Splitboarders aren't snowboarders, imho, they are splitboarders.
Splitboarders have matured past the point where most snowboarders remain mired in some sort of weird pubescent angst. They might not act like this off the slopes, but give them a lift ticket and some steeze and it's on.
The industries sales pitch is this anti-establishment cliche and it works. Unfortunately it's transferred very efficiently from store to snow.

So this thread is alive and well still I see! Spidersavage, Rockjox, you guys are worthless windbags. Spider, maybe one day you can visit real mountains and form an opinion that actually means something. Until you see what real skiers and snowboarders do, your opinion means shit! Until then, good luck avoiding the brahs in socal!
Rockjox, if you actually get out and ski mountains (not meadows), you'll get left in the dust by a competent splitter soon enough. Not that it would be enough to deflate your ego, but it'd be fun to see the look on your stupid face.
Jim Brennan, I'll look you up if I'm lucky enough to get out that way this season. Hard to travel too far for skiing with the northern Greater Yellowstone as my backyard and the Tetons just a few hours south.

The only thing sadder than Rockjox's clueless blather is that so many others on this site seem to be equally ignorant. If not, speak up in defense!
I'm glad you've gotten out with a splitter rj. But times have changed since your buddy pulled his hackjob split out of his woodshop back in 1989. Believe it or not, manufacturers (and even a few talented individuals) have learned how to put two edges on the split skis since then! so they're just like a real pair of skis now!
And as far as managing rolling terrain, splitboarders have developed a unique solution: they take their skins off and ski, just like you do! Sidestep when necessary, put the skins back on, whatever it takes, just like you, BECAUSE THEY'RE SKIING!
Your pals that couldn't manage the traverse did it because they sucked or their gear sucked- factors which are not at all unique to splitboarding/snowboarding.
If you actually care about learning a thing or two about a sport you clearly no nothing about, check out www.splitboard.com.

They do not contribute to fine quality moguls at all.
Guilty.
I definitely ruined my share of 'fine quality moguls' back in my lift-riding days. You'll thank me when you get older.

On my infrequent visits to downhill ski areas, I like to slowly snow plow over the moguls on the steep runs. It's safer, plus helps reduce the size of the moguls. And because I'm going slowly, everyone else has to slow down also.
OK, I'm kidding. But the part about the avi-poodle was (almost) true.

let's see, you throw your arms and legs over that cable and clamber to the next chair. go from chair to chair--you get rest breaks that way. you'll get to a tower in less than an hour. pretty much fourth class, as i figure it. downclimb the tower--they all have service rungs built into them. you're on the ground without broken ankles--just slide on yer butt down to the swim-up bar in the jacuzzi room--they tend to stay open late. don't mind the wolves--all they ever do is follow the grooming machines around 'cause they stir up mice.
