"large, well-established news media organization with a solid reputation ..."
the associated press is only that, an association of existing news organizations. it has only a few of its own reporters and takes very little initiative. AP news is mostly reports from member newspapers and radio and television stations put on a common wire. when a story gets big enough they'll put a rather conservative staffer on it--after someone else has done the dirty work and taken all the heat.
the best reporting ought to come from large metropolitan newspapers, with the resources to put reporters on big stories and maintain bureaus around their states, the country and the world. i've watched them fire their best reporters and cut their bureaus to practically nothing. once in awhile there's a glimmer of what journalism ought to be--you'll see one on the ST station fire thread, and i just wrote an email to the reporter to encourage him to pursue that. if you live in so cal, you might consider doing the same.
if you like helen thomas, you might like aggie underwood. aggie became the first woman city editor of a large metropolitan newspaper in the united states, the los angeles examiner. she got her real nice promotion after agreeing to abandon her investigative reporting of the black dahlia case.

More Obama kissing ass to the right and getting nothing in return but wild slander.
Those who thing NPS is some kind of left wing organization are just making it up. Last time I turned it on, they were interviewing Victor Hansen and throwing him loving soft-ball questions.
That's the GOP way these days, You whine and complain like the sky was falling, when, in fact, the country is being governed is a very GOP manner every day. Obama is nothing but Republican policy done better, but in the middle of economic turmoil

I don't now if anyone has posted this but I think it would be cool to give it to the Onion Radion News or SNL's Weekend Update.

Shocked I tell you!
The nerve of NPR to interview a respected historian and author.

How do we know that the National Park Service (NPS) is a left wing organization, and why does it matter on this thread anyway?
