Look for beards, dude!

You can't go wrong. Remember beard & rope.....

I was planning to do a part 2 cause of the volume of pics I took but got lazy when my computer was freezing up so I just kept this thread going with more pics. I took almost 300 so had to really edit it down quite a bit :)

So I guess part 2 will be next weekend to see how much meltoff happened over the week, what's open and not. So look for pics of that next Monday.

Jaybro, you heading up today? Should I look for the Vanagan or the Subaru?

any updates on conditions? Any chance of cathedral peak being dry this weekend? Pics from a week ago seem to show quite a bit of snow on the descent...

I went up to climb Cathedral on saturday. I made it up to the top of the first pitch then bailed due to approx 40-50 MPH winds . Temps. were ok on the route ,, but the fingertips did get cold . Lots of snow on the trail , but all consolidated .

The route is almost certaintly dry. Lots of snow on the descent. It was beautiful.

here are some pictures from that day... a great day indeed... a memory worth prolonging.

Jaybro on top of Stately Pleasure Dome, with Cathedral Peak in the background
snow and sun and perfect weather!

Tenaya Lake, with more ice on it than I had ever seen, and higher too. Looking back towards Half Dome

Then this guy wanders up in his Converse High Tops and solos Great White Book
wait! that's Mr. Smooth, aka scuffy b, I'm not sure the party sieging GWB at the time appreciated the nuanced climbing attire of our dear ミスター滑らかな as they were Japanese.

Later on in the day we were sitting around talking to Flouride and Steve... relaxing, and taking in the beauty of light and snow and rock and water and trees.

While the sun moved to its evening repose, and us to our's.

By the look of these pics, bad decision on my part to do a 180 at Lee Vining that same day and pursue a bloody mary at the Chart House in Mammoth for dinner. Did climb in Whitney Portal the next day. No place like Tuolumne ...

Oh, I'm sure a Mary was way more rewarding....
Headed up there tomorrow afternoon, for a few...
