The Chief claims Lance was juicing...but the real truth is that after 500 tests...nothing.

Cancer is a life changing event. I know. Now 5 years cancer free, I still look at every day as a gift and try to make the most of it. During my darkest days of surgery, drugs, radiation etc I took solace in reading and rereading Armstrong's book. That book got me through. The man was a world class athlete before cancer and basically had one foot in the grave. To survive and then to perform on the level he did, to me, was an inspiration. As you all know the most important part of the climb or ride or whatever is the 5" between your ears. I think Lance has more control over those 5" than any of his competitors. That's the unfair advantage. Like I said cancer is life changing. As previously stated, his training and preparation broke new ground. As Bob D'A said "500 tests nothing". The man was a physiological freak before cancer and I can tell you with the experience of survival he stands alone. He has mind control tools his peers cannot even begin to comprehend. I can't speak to the drugs but for me he will always be an inspiraton. Hamilton and Landis blew their 15 minutes and now need the dough. Otherwise, why would they be out from under their rocks trying to turn the corner on their collective shame.

Great post Steve. I don't know Lance personally or really care about his personal life. What I do know is that he has inspired millions and there are a thousand stories just like your.

Great job on your recovery.

Sorry we never hooked up in Aspen...I climbed with MK a lot back in the early 80's.

Lots of liars out there and no "Hero's" just dopers like the rest of us. . .who's telling the truth? or does it even really matter?

New York: George Hincapie, a longtime member of Lance Armstrong's inner circle, has told federal authorities he saw the seven-time Tour de France winner use performance-enhancing drugs, according to a US news report.

A segment of the " 60 Minutes" report aired Friday on the "CBS Evening News," one day after it broadcast an interview with another former member of Armstrong's US Postal Service team, Tyler Hamilton.

Hamilton said he also used PEDs with Armstrong.

Hincapie has often been depicted as one of Armstrong's most loyal teammates and was with him for all seven Tour victories. In an interview last year, Armstrong said Hincapie was "like a brother to me." . . .

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/more-sports/cycling/Hincapie-says-Armstrong-doped-Report/articleshow/8479667.cms

Oh, and later in the same article:
"60 Minutes" also released an excerpt from another Armstrong teammate, Frankie Andreu, who said he took banned substances because lesser riders he believed were doping were passing him during races.

"Things were just getting faster and faster and sprinters were getting over the big mountains and winning, you know, climbing stages," Andreu said in the interview. "There's 200 guys flying over these mountains and you can't even stay in the group. And it's just impossible to keep up. And it's like, 'What the hell's going on here?"'

After the Hamilton and Andreu interviews went public, Armstrong launched a website refuting the claims and calling into question the credibility of Andreu, Hamilton and Landis. He also posted a letter addressed to CBS News, calling the "60 Minutes" reporting "disgraceful journalism."

Fact, he still won 7 tours against a level doping field.
I don't really care if he won, or if he is the greatest in any case: he lied again and again and has thus revealed his inner character. In my world that matters, although I guess with most these days its just "business as usual". ha

(glad that at the least this all came out before the world came to an end! If Lance would just come clean on this issue he might still have a chance to be saved.)

He won 7 TDFs and revealed his inner character.

We reveal our own inner characters by admiring or reviling people for the inner characters that they reveal.

Science reveals more and more how much of our inner character is not chosen, but our inner character still likes to judge other people's inner characters just the same.

God you people are truly sheep.

And your a big as#@&%e for comparing Lance to Bin Laden.

I don't give a sh#t if he was doped or not. The man surived cancer and still beat the best (doped) cyclists in world.

I agree, there is no evidence that Bin Laden ever doped or ever cheated his way to "victory" in athletic competition.
Bin Laden got what he deserved, no reason to defame him by comparing him to cheating doper.

Sounds like Armstrong was taking the stuff just like everyone else but he still road them off his wheel ....? So what...Armstrong was competing against a level field who mostly were jacked up on PEDS...I loved watching Armstrong winning 7 tours...

Wow just found out that the long time Vail Mountain Rescue Director Tim Cochrane passed away today. He was the Vail Valleys WBraun.

Cancer took him out.

I wonder how many people will stop donating since Lance is on the hot seat?

Who really won?

The great American witch hunt.

Who will they give the 7 tour titles to?

They were all doping so no one gets the title......

He's not my hero (that place is reserved for my dad) and he still beat what ever they threw at him for seven years...dope or no dope.

Land...doing great...had open heart surgery about seven weeks ago but back on the rock and the bike. Hope all is well with you?

Riley...Bypass...double. Two were 99 percent closed. Had a very minor heart attack (if there is such a thing) and when in for surgery. Being somewhat fit has helped a lot and think I'll be back in 12/13 climbing shape in a few months. I dodged a major bullet.

Land...I hear what are saying...the big losers will be the cancer victims.

Let's meet in the San Luis valley or come to Taos.

De La weenie way is the best in the canyon.

Be well
