So is meditation and yoga one and the same? I need to limber up and find my center.
Too often in the west when someone ways "yoga" some automatically think asana - the physical practice - to that term.
One train of thought that is widely accepted is that there are 8 limbs of yoga.
1) Asana - the physical practice
2) Pranayama - breath control, breathing
3) Dhyana - meditation
4) Yama - restratings/don'ts
5) Niyama - observances/do's
6) Pratyahara - withdrawing from our senses
7) Dharana - concentration
8) Samadhi - a super-conscious state
So you can use any of these limbs to focus on your energetic or subtle body. Breathing into chakra areas, different poses focus/work on different energy centers, meditation or concentration on these energy centers....
As the late Pattabhi Jois once said, "Practice and all is coming!".
Also, I think it's a mistake to associate yoga asana with "limbering up". Yes, you become more flexible but there is a lot more to it than that.

Right. So does it really bring on real benefits? How does one meditate in all 8 of those areas to see benefits and continue growing in those areas?
