Cragman-
You might want to email Pat Ament for tips since his legs was seriously messed up for over a month. Even he didn't have an infection however, just deep bone bruising and tissue damage and terrible pain.

Cragman, hope for a speedy recovery for that shin. it looks nasty.
Same type of injury happened to me with the same exact tool.
Sept 12,01 , day after New York attacks; my large malamute decide to chase a cat out from our yard. She broke down the fence of our neighbor, , continued thru his fence into the yard the cat lived at,, trashed thru the kitty door of their house. She ended up killing their cat, tore up carpets,; antique furniture. Then she killed their sons pig.
As if all this wasent enough, while mending the fences, I too was driving T posts to put up temporary horse type fencing. I looked back because my dogs were spazzing . The pile driver went up over top of the post, came down , just glancing my privates, (whew!!)ended up tearing large flappers into 3 of my toes and breaking my middle toe.Took me out of climbing for the next two months . Lots of agony and gimping around.
I still had to finish the fencing, and the neighbors have never sued me. We have become very good freinds since. GET WELL SOON

Wow, interesting story flakyfoont! Glad to here it turned out OK.
Similar thing happened to my nephew and his dogs(Malamute)chased and did some damage to a pair of Lamas. Actually didn't physically hurt the animals but the neighbor sued because he felt that they were traumatized and didn't reproduce for some time thereafter. Tried to take my nephews house etc(Colorado). My nephew had a nervous breakdown, a real mess. It all worked out OK in the end, the judge tossed it out as frivolous, etc.
Point being...not sure what the point is!
Well one thing is for sure, them pile drivers can do some damage eh!

Well, the cat started it, but the pig was overkill.

PR, Im still dumb enough to run dog sledz. The yard is full of holes and ,there are no electrical cords left on any yard equipment, but the 3 layer fence is solid !!! I try to keep it in my own yard now. I have added an electric wire to the bottom of the fence. The old dogs dont go near it, but the young ones have figured out to grab the plastic insulators and tear them off.

Your story made my day!
I've got five rescued dogs, four of them part Akita.
I too have a yard full of holes and have spent a fortune on fencing, reinforced fencing, higher fencing, deeper fencing, and double fencing. I just had to weave heavy wire through all the chain link tying it back on the frame as they got so excited when the neighbors five chickens came to the front of the house, that they flattened the fence. Fortunately it took them long enough to beat it down that the chickens ran back home.
American dogs killing Japanese chickens could quickly become another international incident on Okinawa!

Dean! Stumbled over this thread...hope all is turning out well. You can always climb ice with one ice boot and one running shoe. Maybe set a trend. Soon all the guys in Vail will be doing it. Let me know if I can help and happy healing! DrPete

Glenn and i tried the lower part of the rte on carson peak earlier the year of petes accident.we did the gully to the base of the second tier to find the snow had rotted the ice. Had to down climb from that location in deep snow on top of the ice. We never went back.
