I'll give you a clue. They were on their way to a Washington forest fire.

When this
Turns into this
You already name your next truck “The Phoenix”
Returning from camping and the Vedauwoo Sushi fest we had a catastrophic mechanical failure that resulted in the axle and drive train breaking, somehow getting around the skid plates and puncturing the gas tank.
The car was on fire (unbeknownst to us) as we pulled over. When we opened the door the flames were under the truck, we jumped out, I got the dog out and Mike started using our on board extinguishers.... but they are small and the flames were getting bigger so they didn’t help much. As they ran out of poop, Mike stood there and said “I really liked that truck”.
We lost all our camping gear, a bunch of personal items and electronics (iPad, cell phone...stuff like that). Thank goodness Mike had his cell phone and wallet in his pocket so we had cards and ID to rent a car etc. My purse was burned up.
We went back to the tow yard and was able to salvage all the tools he had, some clothing, and the food in the coolers was untouched! I chipped my way through a mess in the front seat for hours until I found the remnants of my purse and actually found some things in my wallet...a scorched driver’s license but legible, a bunch of melted credit cards, and my water damaged insurance cards....and even some pictures, and very importantly a scorched National Parks Geezer pass! My pass port was burned in half...the half with a picture. I hated that picture anyway.
So all is moving along. Mike’s actively looking for The Phoenix and talking about how he would even change some of the modifications from what he did on the FlameBaby.
(Slightly Singed) Susan....but I didn’t like my eyebrows anyway.

Wow, you didn’t tell me you closed I-70!
Wouldn’t Phoenix only be appropriate for resurecting the Same truck?
Obviously a trip report is in order...

Poetic license, ya know. Besides we did salvage many of the spare parts Mike had purchased. And the broken axel and drive shaft.
Yes we closed I70. Why do anything part way?
Many folks assumed it was the result of the gas cans on top. Nope. They were as empty as can be. However, we had several 20L water jugs packed in such a way the nipples got scorched and heavy smoke damage but did they melt and release their water to help the proceedings?....nope.
Oh well....back to shopping.

^^^^. Could be.
We also managed to start a brush fire when the tires exploded and parts of the rim shot off like a grenade.
Lots of fun.
