This thing was killer! And I feel privileged to have been present for the launching of the Danielle Buttfukelman Haute couture line. First product will be his signature scent "Eau de Boog". Be watching for it this spring.

This was one freakin incredible episode. When I was told by the
bank teller on Friday that my passport was expired and they
couldn't cash a check for me (I'd already lost my wallet) I went
into a pit of despair, thought I'd never make it to any kind of
rendezvous or gathering (already on a losing streak in that
regard). After about 15 minutes I realized the teller was wrong
(yeah, more or less that simple), loaded up on cash and hopped on
a plane, only 5 hours or so late. Couldn't rent a car, called
Salad and he took me in after an entertaining shuttle ride. Salad
takes me to Woodson in the AM, first thing we see is Robs unloading, so the day starts with a hug and a "how many years now
etc". Then all these swole swells start coalescing and the
strategy gets tossed around, we head up the hill and all the time
I'm feeling like some pampered pig, These people came from like
up to a thousand miles or so TO SHOW ME AROUND AND MAKE SURE I
HAD THE BEST TIME POSSIBLE.
People just kept showing up (and disappearing), cell phone calls
to discuss the sun/shade situation,
The quality of the climbing is fabulous. What surprised the most
is the similarity to full-size climbing. It's like a mountain
covered with Greatest Hits, like "we pulled the best 20ft section from Climb X and put it right here. Just for you."
Awesome slab problems, Jaws, fingers and hands of the highest
quality, after a while I was feelin KINDA SWOLE. Then I got up to Greg's Crack and the Bat Flake and I realized it was just
WATER RETENTION. Greg's Crack (aka Cricket's Chimney) proved to
very highly Scuff Resistant. I don't think it's fully Scuff Proof but for now...
Then Grug took me down the hillside to Maria's Delight which has
to be one of the coolest things going. Then I had to hoof it up
to the top to pay homage to the Crucible and jog back down the
road to catch up. Found the troublemakers at California Nights.
After I gave that a couple good tries I figured my day was over,
but NO, bvb herds the whole posse off toward Lemon Chiffon, well
maybe try one more slab, then Grug has to show me two more OWs.
This first one, well, the start seems kinda tough. Near-death
experience followed, sky-high pulse, astronomic blood pressure,
I'm sweating so much I can barely move my legs in my soaking wet
pants, and I've made it about 3 feet. Greg assures me a good
hand jam is approaching in another move. I look up, see a nice
jam about a kilometer above, continue swimming upstream, escape
and concentrate on keeping my stomach contents where they belong.
My freaking word, what a day. Drank a gallon of water, exactly,
finishing up as I got back to the cars.
Robs drove me to Salad's and put up with my incoherent comments
on roads and turns.
I was the first one to start feeling cold, stuffed myself with
food and spent the evening flittin from one little gabfest to
another. It turns out I was closest thing to representation from
the Santa Monica Boys (aka Buff Mountaineers, aka the G&E Buff
climbers, aka the Genie Buffers) who were the Arch Rivals of the
Poway boys way back in the muttafukkin day, so I had some arcane
gossip tidbits to surprise Phantom X and Agent 13 and Eeyonkee.
Superlative, top to bottom.
And the pictures to come!!!!

Mikey (watusi) we missed ya man! The mob wasnt complete without you there - but you were there in most of our hearts and minds anyway. Id watch people thrash on some crack and recall you doing laps on it in tennies. Ill never forget you trying to get my sorry ass up drivin south, soloing it over and over to show me the sequence, then belaying me till my hands were too torn to go on(then a couple more solos to finish your pump). Wish you woulda been there, you OWN that hill.

The "sandbag" nasal surgery story had a little twist this morning at work. I ended up having medics transport me to the ER for uncontrollable bleeding from my nose.

All is better now except for my wife telling me how I should have beenresting at home and not up at Woodstone carrying on like a youngster, yah yah yah. I figured a few boulder problems and one of Ron's cold beers couldn't be that bad. When my head started throbbing pretty bad around 4 I figured it was time to call it a day, sorry I missed Salad's after party.

It was a great time seeing all the peeps on the hill and finally meeting Roy.

Just got back from my 4th straight day climbing at Woodson. God I love this place. Yesterday was a day to remember. Kudos to bvb for starting the thread, Tarbuster for organizing the thing and Salad and his wife for throwing such a great apres-climbing barbecue/party. What a great bunch of folks. I feel honored to have been part of this.

Highlights? Where do I start? Laughing with Kinley, Rita, Tom, and Klimmer...Seeing Jeff and Adrian, Eppi (except for the fact that he makes me jealous), John Vawter, Tom Scott (except that he makes me jealous), RICK PIGGOTT (I'm not worthy), watching bvb do California Night (also not worthy), Seeing TARBUSTER do California Night (felt like I just saw a guy in a wheelchair walk for the first time.. what's up with that ...that Roy?), the beer that Ron Amick gave me (actually, move this one up to number one), showing scuffy_b some Woodson offwidths...I feel fortunate indeed.
