A paperwork mountain is in everyones future it seems to get it all rolling at a higher level. MediCal and SS seem like pretty big and particular entities, thus the call-out for a real form filler outer to streamline the task.

That person so far has not magically appeared. If you might be that person, check out the posts from a few days ago from Sooze.

Besides that, I thnk the Bloot is doing better with his current and immediate struggles, but he is so damn popular I cant get him on the phone to make sure.

have you talked with the medical social worker associated with the hospital or clinic re those forms? a disability claim in CA requires a diagnosis (check) an md signature (check) and a ton of financial proof ie bank statements tax returns.
I'm betting you've tried that. They should be able to do it for you without an attorney because the diagnosis is straight out. not a workman's comp claim which is extensive and hard to prove and what most people get the attorney for.
SO wish I could offer to help. Up here in bay area and not free for about three weeks.
to find the medical social worker call the hospital operator and ask for that dept. Also ask for patient assistance or your discharge planner, usually an RN.

Blitzo is doing much better today, more lucid and actually chuckling a bit at some of his recent confusions. This is a huge improvement from the other day when he was pretty serious about what he was seeing. NO fun when your mind plays tricks on you, it's scary and frustrating and probably a host of other things too.

He seems to be mending physically too, PT guy coming by a few times a day and the cause of the extreme dehydration seems much better too. Labs, fluids and things like that continue.

LuckyPink, you're right about the forms - many of which require detailed accounts of the diagnosis, treatment, time spent in the hospital etc etc. On the surface it seems like something we could do but with a little research it's easy to find see the bomb-out rate is super high and we don't exactly have time to waste.

Not sure where that will bring us, I went over it a bit with Blitzo today but probably just need to find one of those late-night attorneys and see if it's a case willing to take on. I have concerns what he's eligibility is for past work experience, some question marks there. Blitzo has enough working credits to qualify for Social Security (in another 5 years) but not sure how things would go for disability as he hasn't been working steadily for several years.

The most important thing is that he's sounding better and is living another day!! He's without his phone and laptop so a big shout out to Pat Nay and Steve Williams (again Steve!) for sending a little green cheer! Everyone has been so generous in well wishes, money and prayers. Thank you!

Susan-

He doesn't need to have been steadily employed, but his last date of employment where he paid S.S. can't be over 5 years ago to qualify for Disability.

Humm, well that's not going to make things easy for us. He's been "self employed" for so long now I wouldn't call that steady employment. He hasn't made enough money to even file taxes with the paperwork reduction act.

If it wasn't complicated enough before it sure will be. He must apply for SSDI as our first line of efforts, if that bombs out we can try a stack of paperwork and insist on referral to start the process on the DDSD program but that can take up to a year or more to go through. A year is a long time for a person in his condition and needs attention now.

We'll have a better chance at waiting out ObamaCare.......

Sooze/Russ/Will/locker -

How's the Bloot doing? Any updates on his condition? Is he still at Arrowhead RMC?

Hoping things are going better for him.

Quick update: Still at Arrowhead, mostly stable but his calcium and all the other stuff is a bit of a daily rollercoaster ride, still in isolation for the C-Diff though I think that is gone now, has his computer and phone as of a couple days ago but no glasses so not sure if either of those are doing him any good right now, does some PT each day, watches a lot of bad daytime TV.

Dudes the Mack! Call him up!

Donation info:

To send a card, check, or something else:

Blitzo
c/o Russ Walling
HC1 Box 696
Joshua Tree, Ca. 92252

To send a check, make it out to Russ Walling as his bank account is still not quite set up, send it to the address above, and I'll cash it and hand him the money since he lives here at our house.

PayPal is still probably best:
RevBlitzo@hotmail.com is his personal address to send it to. Or, if that one makes you nervous, you can send it to me at "paypal@FishProducts.com" and I'll transfer it to Blitzo.

Thanks!
