Unlikely Trump will be impeached. Very unlikly he would be convicted if he was.

What's a mother to do?

Indict him.

Flip at least one branch of the legislature to ensure a public investigation and airing of any violations, then vote him out in 2 1/2 years. Impeachment is a no go.

Wild stuff. The U.S. Attorney for the SD of NY (a Trump appointee) had to approve the warrant application and then a federal judge had to issue it. Seeking a warrant in the first place means the FBI thought Cohen would likely destroy records if they were sought voluntarily or through a subpoena and that they have shown probable cause that Cohen has committed federal crimes.

Well, the people in charge of the hunt (us attorney, Rosenstein, chrs Wray, Mueller, Comey bitd) are all Republicans, so trump is right in that it is a partisan effort.

well, I guess I take Mr Trump's word that he is not a Muslim, but I have my doubts

any photos showing him attending a Christian church ceremony are likely doctored

I read that he was born in Indonesia, educated in a Syrian terrorist training camp..

and sent to the US to become President in order to impose Sharia Law

let's see the long form birth certificate..

well, I take Donald Trump's word that he is not a Muslim...

I mean, um, something irrelevant about a Muslim father ...I forget

but the important thing is that I really don't know if Trump is not a Muslim

I mean he "says" he is not, but how are we all to know for sure he is not?

proof that Trump is a secret Muslim is that there are no credible, unaltered, photos of him in a Christian church

well I guess we just have to take Donald Trump's word that he is not a Muslim

despite there being few if any photos of him worshipping in a Christian church...troubling

No don't let it go, this is a complicated issued and we need Norton's help to sort it out.

Norton, here is the deal:
Under sharia law, Obama is a Muslim.
In your opinion, I suppose, Obama is not a Muslim.
So the question is: who gets to decide who is a Muslim: you or Muslims?

I think it's a close call, I can see both sides on that one:
On the one hand, we have Norton, a seemingly highly intelligent person whose opinion holds great sway on on all manner of subjects.
On the other hand, we have over a billion Muslims who have sharia law that is used to determine all sorts of issues, including who is a Muslim.

Very perplexing . . .

Maybe that's a good guess, but I'm not so sure.
Would it fly in a Sharia court?

Is there a difference between:
Do you consider yourself a Muslim, and
Do Muslims consider you a Muslim?

*Many conservatives have a loose relationship with facts. The right-wing denial of what most people think of as accepted reality starts with political issues: As recently as 2016, 45 percent of Republicans still believed that the Affordable Care Act included “death panels” (it doesn’t). A 2015 poll found that 54 percent of GOP primary voters believed then-President Obama to be a Muslim (…he isn’t).

*Then there are the false beliefs about generally accepted science. Only 25 percent of self-proclaimed Trump voters agree that climate change is caused by human activities. Only 43 percent of Republicans overall believe that humans have evolved over time.

*And then it gets really crazy. Almost 1 in 6 Trump voters, while simultaneously viewing photographs of the crowds at the 2016 inauguration of Donald Trump and at the 2012 inauguration of Barack Obama , insisted that the former were larger. Sixty-six percent of self-described “very conservative” Americans seriously believe that “Muslims are covertly implementing Sharia law in American courts.” Forty-six percent of Trump voters polled just after the 2016 election either thought that Hillary Clinton was connected to a child sex trafficking ring run out of the basement of a pizzeria in Washington, D.C., or weren’t sure if it was true.

Makes sense that Republicans would be ignorant of the facts. Republicans tend to be less educated and less successful than Democrats.

The raid on Cohes's data was done exactly according to Federal guidelines. Permission had to come from the highest level of the DOJ and a Federal judge. A separate DOJ team will go through Cohen's papers to sort out those related to his criminal activity, while shielding the others from prosecutors. The attorney-client privilege will be maintained, except for information related to Cohen's personal criminal activity.

But, the Trump apologists said the raid was illegal, and violated every American standard of decency. The apologists pretend that alternative realities can be manufactured, at will, as the need arises. They relied on "alternative facts" (not Federal law) to arrive at a delusion that the raid was illegal. Then, Fox and Hannity broadcast the delusion wholesale to susceptible, uneducated viewers who believed it to be reality.

The nation is fighting a second civil war, a battle for reality.

This situation is exactly what George Orwell was talking about in 1984.

An Alternative Reality is not the same thing as a Separate Reality.

A Separate Reality is a book about the intentional use of psychoactive substances (e.g., peyote) to achieve altered states of consciousness.**

"Alternative Facts" is a line of horseshit that came out of Kellyanne Conway's horse's ass of a mouth in furtherance of a delusional alternative reality wherein Trump's inauguration audience was the largest in history.

Trump and his foul ilk are going to lose their battle for reality, but it is going to take a concerted effort to defeat them before they destroy America.

** Separate Reality is the name of a famous Yosemite roof crack climb established by Ron Kauk. Tales of Power is another book by Castaneda, and the name of a steep corner crack leading to Separate Reality, also established by Ron Kauk.

Trump won't fire Mueller. On the Advice of some very crooked Senators, sycophant advisors and crafty layers, Trump will fire Jeff Sessions. This will result in the new Patsy AG replacing Rosenstein.
At this point all the aforementioned will work in concert to smother the Special counsel's Report.

The goal will be to get this to the Supreme Court where Trump has clear advantage.

Yes I do, not because I agree with it (I don't), but because I believe it's useful to understand the the thought process of something like a billion people on the planet, when at least some non-trivial number of them are motivated by their beliefs to do some rather extreme things.

Sometimes other people's beliefs have consequences, even when we disagree with them.

Would someone whose parents were Jews have been able to escape Nazi Germany by pointing out that he or she didn't believe in the Jewish religion and didn't accept that the traditional definition of Jewishness?
