This convention really is a sh#t show. Yesterday was supposed to be about improving the economy, yet since the Ryan and Trump wings can't agree on how to do that, or intend to fully unite around their party's nominee, they resorted to the one thread that unites them: Hillary hatred. This is a serious sh#t show.

Ryan Bundy tried to break out of jail by tying his bedsheets together.
Federal prosecutors said Monday that Ryan Bundy tore his bed sheets and braided them together into 12–15 feet of rope in an attempt to escape Multnomah County Jail.
Bundy is at the jail awaiting trial for his role in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation earlier this year.
“We have actual evidence that he tried to escape,” Assistant U.S. Prosecutor Geoffrey Barrow told the court during a pre-trial detention hearing in Portland.
Barrow said jail staff found the braided rope under Bundy’s mattress when they searched his cell on April 8. Barrow also said Bundy had stored containers of extra food along with six pillowcases, a chair, two extra pairs of boxers and more torn sheets.

What about Bush's Stand Down Order during 9/11!!!!
Maybe if he was on top of things, he could have saved many 1000s that day.
He folded, he chocked, he didn't do a damn thing, he is personally responsible for everyone of those deaths that day.
What about the complete submission of the GOP to go along with the lies about WMDs!
They had real FABRUCATED Intel about the WMD and Saddam's plans for an attack on the US they were feeding the Congress!
Is fabricated intel of stock piles of WMDs a Lie??
Oh, and what about the financial collapse on Bush's watch?
Why didn't he warn us?
Why didn't he do something before to curb the damage???>?
Trillions lost because of Bush's Stand Down Order!
and was it a lie that the Gov. and Hillary told about Benghazi?
The person responsible for the Terrorist Attack said it was the video that initiated the attack,
how come you never believe him, the very person that did the Crime, why don't his words have any effect on your believes on the matter?

Today should be even better. Sounds like Ted "Satan Incarnate" Cruz will have his convention moment...let the circus continue--sounds like Bundy was trying to get there too.

I have to go back and check, but didn't the bush administration ease sanctions on Libya because Kadafi was fighting terrorists?

UN sanctions were lifted on September 12, 2003, after Libya fulfilled all remaining UNSCR requirements pertaining to the Lockerbie bombing, including renunciation of terrorism, acceptance of responsibility for the actions of its officials, and payment of appropriate compensation to the victims' families.
Normalizing relations
After its public announcement of December, 2003, the Gaddafi government cooperated with the U.S., the U.K., the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons toward these objectives. Libya also signed the IAEA Additional Protocol and has become a State Party to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
In recognition of these actions, the U.S. began the process of normalizing relations with Libya

Are you or have you ever been a member of the Obama Administration?
If he wins the presidency, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by Democratic President Barack Obama and could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers, Trump ally, Chris Christie, said on Tuesday.
I hear "government purges" always go well.

given the emphatic shutting down of all the other political and gun threads..
the solution seems to be a separate Supertopo page for non climbing topics
does it cost money to set up another sub page?

Dingus posted Well, in the silver lining category, Governor Christie is finished on the national stage. What a groveling tool.
He's either finished or will soon be Attorney General Christie. Last night was a pretty obvious audition for the post.
The band 'Third Eye Blind' was booked for the RNC, played none of their hits and then asked "who believes in science?" and crapped all over the RNC platform. They are responding to tweets about how disappointed people are with "good."
*edit* Looks like it was a show booked at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame only tangentially related to the convention, not the actual RNC.

The Trial of Hillary Clinton by Christy was the lowest point a National Party has ever gone in my lifetime.
It went like this;
Christy spouting some right wing lie about Hillary and asking the hoards of Hillary haters "Is she Guilty, or Not Guilty"
and they all chanted like Hitler youth "GUILTY"
and then the next lie
Guilty!
"Hillary killed those girls in Booko maroon"
GUILTY
Hillary is a Muslim Brotherhood member!
GUILTY
"burn the Witch"
"Hillary for Prison"
"She lies about everything"
"She hates America"
GUILTY
I don't think these people will ever come around
They are truly a divided race.
How will they make through a President Hillary?

I liked Christie, up until went all mean girl on Rubio. Now, he wants to be Trump's b!tch.
There should be a term similar to The Peter Principle, for the point when politicians go from being (mostly) decent human beings to scumbag sellouts.

"The band 'Third Eye Blind' was booked for the RNC, played none of their hits and then asked "who believes in science?" and crapped all over the RNC platform."
How many bands are in enough ideologic alignment with the GOP to allow them to use their music during their events?
Besides the obvious Turd Nugent, that is....
You listen to the various music that is played, and know damn well that most all of those bands wouldn't want to have anything to do with the GOP. Seems like the person who is responsible for choosing music must be operating by 'better to ask forgiveness than permission' strategy.

Trump wants to be President, he just doesn't want the job of President.
Donald Trump doesn’t want to be president — or, at least, he doesn’t want the responsibility.
That’s the way things look after the New York Times reported Wednesday that Donald Trump Jr. offered Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) the opportunity to be "the most powerful vice president in history" back in May.
According to a Kasich adviser who spoke with the Times, the younger Trump said that Kasich would be in charge of both domestic and foreign policy. And what would Donald Sr. be in charge of? "Making America great again."
........
Offering Kasich control of both foreign and domestic policy would leave Trump with little responsibility. He would be a figurehead, so to speak, but he would have the last word over any proposals thrown his way.
According to the Times, that’s pretty much how Trump went about deciding on a running mate anyway: He was presented with a list of 16 names, "perused it and, without suggesting any additions or deletions, nodded that it looked fine." After letting others do the hard work during the vetting process, Trump simply wanted to make the final decision.
Ultimately Kasich said no to the offer and refused to endorse Trump or attend the Republican National Convention in his own state. It’s not clear if Trump offered Pence the same powerful role he offered to Kasich.
