Steve Smelser and I were in josh on a truly wretched cold windy f-ed up weekend in the 80's once. I saw that 'tusi and wanted to ask him about that woodson place he had mentioned.
"Oh yeah that would be the place to be now. Did i ever show you the topos and maps I drew for it? Oh wait, I've got some xeroxes in the rig..."
He comes back and hands me a bunch of papers and writes down some more directions.
That was the key to new adventure, we were out of there in minutes on our way to a whole new world; Robbins, crucible, onsight of mother superior, all unlooked for when we split Phx the night before....

Bob, thought the same thing but apparently it's a Valley "phenomenon"...
Horsetail Falls in Yosemite National Park. This effect only takes place during the last two weeks in February. Taken on February 19th, 2009....

Another great weekend at Woodson. Head first in the Bushes is a very good slab and hard(V5ish), I think definately harder than 11+(V3). I would die for you is also very good. Both took many tries.

yeah, head first in the bushes used to be a real favorite of mine. hard V5 sounds about right -- in perfect conditions. damn thing was impossible in the summer, even at twilight when things had cooled off a bit. the rock still radiated.
get any pics of it? i got nothin'.

I was there when Johnny did I Would Die For You...
"Intense or What?!" would be an understatement! Holds breaking off, screams of doubt, and then a cacophany of yells, hoots and hollers erupting; as Johnny stood with arms raised atop the boulder, his eyeballs protruding and neck veins distended; screaming in triumph after sticking the thing, all creating an atmosphere of electricity and jubilance!

I would die for you was one of my favorite boulder problems. I'd watch guys flail on that thing saying it was impossible. Then I would lace up my scarpa edging shoes and back step that small really thin edge and stand up. Just a right foot high step and it was over. I think it was rated 5.12?
