On another front.

Stem Cells Can Repair Damaged Spinal Cord, Says Scholar

...

Persons diagnosed with diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, cardiac failure and those suffering from irreparable injury as spinal cord can benefit from [stem cell technoloy].

...

“What do these diseases all have in common? They are all not so much caused by something going wrong within a cell or organ, but are caused by complete loss of a specific cell type … Stem cells have the prospect of a cure as they offer the opportunity to put back into the body brand new functioning cells to replace those which have been damaged or degenerated.”

Never been to...[Click to View YouTube Video]

As the crow flies, it is 208.5 miles from Chula Vista to the town of Needles, CA.

I mean, if you knew how, you'd fly, right?

A few minutes ago I opened the blinds again, having gone back to bed for a few hours. My, my, my, there's no Farmers Market today!
I had to check the local paper, the Sun-Stroke, to find what's the haps with this. It's simply moved. Now I have to walk three blocks instead of one to get (expensive, but organic) fruits and veggies.

This news is not as big as a lot of stories, I realize.

The Dawn Wall, for instance, or the Nepal Earthquake.

Or the fact that the Solstice will arrive soon, relatively soon, that is. It's on June 21 this year.

Great photo! Reminds me of my gram at that age. People who give up at living miss so much. We are often capable of much more than we know. Good for her!

My plan is to give up mountains and wilderness when I die in them. Until then, I intend to keep on having entirely too much fun, most of it where there are few people and more rocks and trees.

I know how lucky I am to have the choices I do. And lucky that I can make new choices every day. whiny voice (but I chose today to be sunshiny and warm, but it is cloudy, cold and raining!) close whiny voice. okay, choices about some things.

zB,
First off, I am sorry you had such evil in your neighborhood. I am glad they are gone. Yes, not merely greedy, but predatory and horribly twisted. I often wonder if there is any hope for people that far from any human standards.

Now then, do you know if our own stem cells can be harvested and preserved, for use throughout our lives if needed? I imagine there is a genome data set for matching stem cells, if in fact they need to be matched. Maybe any old stem cell will do. I am clueless on this subject. And you would be perfectly right to tell me to go read it myself. :)

LOL

Yes, sir, all my chores are done. I even dusted some stuff, and I HATE to dust. Now I am listening to Constance Demby's music and checking on tribes and emails.

It is still raining.

Warm and peaceful night to everyone. I think I will go watch a silly movie.

OK. What I recall at this point is that the stem cells injected in the knee by the doctors at Regenexx in Colorado are taken from around the lower spine and then either injected directly or sometimes cultured first then injected. Not covered by insurance at the time. I'm going to do a re-check on the status of the procedure and insurability.

Million dollar tank bash

Meanwhile, it was twenty years ago today. Encounter-wise, like the TP's, most flames probably don't find this sort of thing in their respectable/respective neighborhoods.

Drought watch.

What is avocado tree stumping? It stumped me, I had to look it up. Trees are cut totally back, stumps painted white and then not watered for a year. Then normal watering is resumed and they grow back.

I got the redline treatment on totaly and whilst doing some research on legitimate alternative spellings, I found (some might say encountered) these folks. Another totally new one on me.

First heard of DB at a Mayall concert in Sacramento, 1970.

Bennett was born in Welshpool, Powys, Mid Wales. Emerging in the late 1960s from the art school music scene of Kingston-upon-Thames and Guildford,
Bennett was a one-man blues band with virtuosity and co-ordination on drums, guitar and harmonica.

His live sets combined his own compositions with Jimmy Reed-style blues standards often aided by friends
Peter Green and Top Topham.

He was a session musician in the early 1960s playing harmonica.

Between 1968 and 1970 he was played on John Peel's Top Gear, toured and eventually joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers
as band member/solo act on a US tour in 1970 (which included Sacramento).

After performing with Memphis Slim on 26 March 1976, Bennett was driving home in a Ford Transit van in Warwickshire
when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The van collided with a truck and Bennett was killed.

For decades, a clutch of live and home recordings on Indigo seemed to be all that remained of his work
until the 2006 release of the Complete Blue Horizon Sessions.

The NEW NEW MONDAY MORNING WALL BLUES

The blues got me surrounded
And I ain't got a chance

Them blues got me surrounded
And I don't stand a chance

Ain't got me no overcoat
Too many holes in my pants

My rope's had too many falls
And my shoes need new soles

Yeah my rope's held too many falls
And my shoes could use new soles

I stand in that hot hot sun
All day long just drillin' holes

We climbed one pitch today
It was very blank and steep

We did one pitch today
Hot and very blank and steep

My partner just keeps sayin'
Bleep-bleep-bleep and still more bleep

Mama when will this climb end
Will it go and will we send

Mama will this bad-ass end
Will we do it Will we send

Will champagne flow up above
Will you meet me there my love

The blues got me surrounded
And I ain't got a chance

Them blues got me surrounded
And I don't stand a chance

Ain't got me no overcoat
Too many holes in my pants
Come on meet me and we'll dance

Dean has reached the end of his rope, and it's so saddening.

Condolences to all his friends and to his family. And to those close to his partner, GRAHAM HUNT, as well. May he also rest well.

On May 16, 2015, Potter and Graham Hunt were killed while attempting a wingsuit flight from Taft Point above Yosemite Valley.

Only text for awhile,

I was finally just able to watch ,
all the way thru - Valley Uprising.

On Saterday night,

how do you spell
Weird creepy
Saterday night.

My best friends six or seven have
Died from spring fever over the years

Now Decades past I think of them

Joe
Eric
Claude

Paul

While I stayed behind
and ran life's race,

So many times over the years as others of high flame have moved along
Shucked off this mortal husk and traded in mortality, for a place in the firmament

I have wondered aloud
Why God ?

And never a good answer
From her surly breast,

( my auto correct won't spell Bujumbura no bus um, if you get that)

Past reflection on extremes - pull up short at forty years of age!

I never win any of these, but is the AM analog of the gloaming, the crack of dawn? I know it's not the FM analog.

These folks aren't much help on this one, unless maybe you're multilingual. Thugamar Féin An Samhradh Linn is a traditional Irish tune sung on May Day (Lá Bealtaine)
