Fairchild South Face is NE of Ypslion. Good vertical and nice angle! Start out at Lawn Lake TH and tromp up Ypsilon, scoot over to Fairchild and ski yer brains out, and then march out the creek to the trail.

Redline Up, Blue line down. Mt. Adams on June 5. 16.

The Pack

The Summit, Rainier in the Distance.

The SW Chutes is a totally incredible line. The same angle for about 3,000 feet.

Thanks Wilbeer.

I am not at all sure of the intent of the thread. I first skied in 1966 at Loveland Basin (yes I am old). Beartrap bindings and lace up leather boots. I was so damn excited to get a pair of Head Std skis 160cm at 10 yrs old in 1971. Family moved to Utah at the mouth of LCC in 1972. I got in trouble for missing school to go skiing so often. Ski raced for the Snowbird race team in the 70s. Started telemarking and skiing on shitty XC gear (Epoke 1100's) in about 1980. Totally got rid of my Alpine stuff until about 1996.

Groundup earlier in the thread said that if you get on telemarking stuff that it helps your skiing. It did mine, especially on shitty, shitty gear. Todays skate gear has more support than what we had in the early 80's. I never thought I would go back to Alpine. But I did to coach ski racing. Where I finally learned how to ski after 35 years. Oh, dont get me wrong all the other sliding helped. I still tele on my shitty lightweight XC ski gear. But frankly, the evolution of skiing and its equipment has changed so much from 30 years ago that with plastic (tele) boots and all the other sh#t, its not all that hard, and doesnt make sense. Still fun. But I dont care if anyone teles. Unless they are on shitty cheap gear. Then I care.
Kind of like leaving the rack behind.

At the end of the day, whether your teleing, snowboarding or skiing its all sliding over snow.

I believe your post nailed it down ,solid.

Nobody cares if you Tele, splitboard or Alpine. What most care about ,whether it be inbounds, sidecountry or backcountry,is the

Glisse.

The experience, the pursuit and the rewards they bring.

One true thing I miss of the west, spring ascents and descents.
Good weather, corn snow and cold beers at the end of it all.

TFPU.

Those Asolo Summit's are still my favourite's Jim.

Jim,
I used those boots on the Wapta Traverse a long time ago! I admit, I did like my original T2's.

Winter is only a few months away. :)
