I can't help mentioning that I couldn't help noticing definite similarities here.
But it might jukst be my position.
What with all the hey there says, the WTFs, the be here nows, the say what theres and there you gos, they all run together into a pastiche.
A walking nightmare of phrases meant to enhance communication, not retard it, drive it into the Park Side with all the Steely Cars.
A twilit zone of shaded meanings, misinformation, and outright deceit.
Tsk-tak. Mustn't, you know...won't do.
And so, my advice is:Wink, nudge, enlightenment. That so hard?

ME and my compadres go up the wall using dime edges for up ward progression.
You see all those ropes and things hanging off the wall? they are the tools of the trade, not direct Aid.
The coming storm of newly minted climbers are so good, momma dear, that they can spend weeks on a climb that has already taken years of (modifier) Determined Effort.

Al took advantage of my good nature. He ripped off the minimal gear that I had, while running the climbing gear counter at the EMS in Lake placid.
Then he would offer me a discount, one 'beiner if I bought four. to replace my missing gear.
He sold me the most awful Frankenstein Ice boots that were Ice boxes.
He, I and a good fellow,Tom Gara, went out and climbed 80 to 90% of some six or seven routes.
Always retreating because, Kyle had some BS problem and would not come up the final pitch of the climb.
I have never gotten over the facts:
I was climbing hard 5.10s in'79 &'80, in the Gunks and the Daks,
I have never seeked or received any credit for the climbs I did the FAs of, some were
those where he had stalled the ascents.
When the most recent guide was being put together I counted up the # of days that I could have spent climbing. The number added up to less than 80 days in the three and a half years that I kicked it around the Daks.
That being the case and that my notes of the times were that of a kid , a dead head kid who was fond of saying things like"Rippa", " wicked awesome", & "Rheal gone cat" to describe pitches, There was no way to prove what I had climbed. Still butt hurt about it though!!

Then when I got on them,
(in light mist/rain) the path was untested holds broke under my fly weight. He had straight up lied.
(Tom Rosecrans warned me . . .)
I and those who know (the old boy/grandfathering for pay thing) have some strong opinions about the start of and the reason for his well received if misguided career path.
Now it is a churn the youth for the money and hope no one figures out that the Organization is responsible . . .

Hi Mouse,
Adventurers go out and look for the challenging ascents, whether rock or spirit. Or oceans or stars. We are the ones who hear the soft song of the unknown, and we follow the harmony that resonates within us. Or we are not adventurers.
if we were not adventurers, we would not be talking here among others who explore and adventure.
Of course it gets harder from here, but the view gets better. :) I think the rewards are worth the tough pitches, and besides, sometimes, sometimes, I discover a spot of level, wide, south-facing ledge when I least expected it. A sanctuary for the spirit and the body. I know they don't last forever, but it is a comfort to know the warm ledges are there.

At a certain age, a lack of the old control in the vertical plane due to one thing and many others; add in the view that there are no horizons because of smog; toss in a modicum of occasional loss, lack of funds, and nothing much to watch on TV, and you are bound to pay the price, the ever-increasing fee, but the rent on the modem never changes, SIR.
Said with honesty and some candor, but not a bit of wax on the envelope...or glue. Verdad. Got to give it up, sometimes.

I was feeling immensely patriotic the pathos that seeing and hearing the Boy's singing
the national anthem (that needs capitals but that's a different ball team.) really choked me.
I got misty eyed and had to take a Duce.
Did you mean the real Nichole or do you kid man?
just to add that why L that form of the feminin is very desirable,
you have met the one that I let get away!
by gnome that's what the Dr ordered, a return to see the facelift picture that hit like
"the cold kiss at the end of a hot fist,"
Her simple sweetness was so much of a gift in a summer of my extended youth.
She showed up with a foil, a Kidman like blond who towered ore' me ,my eyes met the curl of her neck.
but she had a over hang to die for to climb it was sure to be the feat of the summer.
After a taste I passed, and then the two returned a third time! We climbed at my secret spot watched the sunset intertwined, and spent that night sharing! Sweet Bliss I had Arrived . . .

I had tasted the corn fed blond type repeatedly. and was a bit board with the broad cushion and milky thighs.
The lure of the exotic, the excitement in her that she the Gaurd chick had scored the prize!
Made the summer all the more passionate, an emotional share.(there.. it was the bestEver)
I've never not said so for all the world to know I Was out on the"Bank" the day that she visited last!
We missed each other ; She at my front door being stood up, me out on MillBrook being sandbagged.
Took more thana forty footer off Square Meal I regret not repeating a climb named Schemeil
and being home to meet her. That was my longest fall(link Super Topo thread)
still falling.,,,
she felt the summer had passed I had served and sustained her. Given her the confidence to man up and lead 5.7 and in the gunks that was5.8 almost every climb.
I will say that my memories of that summer of guiding and those three women
(soo much to tell of that thirdgoyle) are the sweet spot and stand out only pailing to my current Love.

We immediately got ... EBs after 5th grade.
