For years, while my kids were young I watched,May be about 4 yrs ago I found the officiating to be just too random. Far from just missed calls, some were the obvious overlooked fouls mixed with a liberal use of unjustified cards.
It ruined many games for me. More so in these international matches than in American games, where it gets tit- for - tat, & the officials seem to try to strike a balance, that Bad Call is an example; Brasil out!? A clear slapped ball?!!
It seems like real cheating maybe even pay-offs are involved.

I just watched the replay (I didn't watch the game). Uh, pretty sure that
ref is gonna retire to a luxury penthouse on the Copacabana. Stevie
Wonder woulda seen that! And the ref wasn't that far away, like 7 yards?
Where was he looking, at his online savings account? I'm sure Sepp Blather
is laughing hysterically. FAIR PLAY! RESPECT!
But after all is said and done, Brasil sucks bad. They have mental Zika.

It was UGLY. After Chile scored early in the second half to make it 3-0, it looked like the Mexican midfield and defense pretty much surrendered.
It could have easily been 9 or 10.
By the way this two yellow in 5 games and you're suspended for the next one rule is stupid.

The goal was getting to Semi's. He gets an extension.
If the USA gets third place he's in for life.
If Martino, on the other hand loses the next match, he's gone.

Klinsmann is the best thing to happen to American football. We don't have the skills, but he gets the most out of our players.
Go Chile! I used to not like Vidal. But after watching him play all year at Bayern, he plays the game perfectly. Maybe with some emotion, but that also includes a ton of heart.
Messi is an alien, I'm convinced.

I disagree on every count.
In general under him opponents shots taken, shots on goal and passes completed in our defensive third are all up. The only thing that saved his ass in the last World Cup was Tim Howard playing out of his mind.

K-man doesn't get fired for losing to Argentina!
Do we have a single player who makes their roster? Brooks and Yedlin strike me as the only ones MAYBE in the conversation. Clint Dempsey couldn't make that team if he were trying out to be the waterboy.
People on teams with names like The Seattle Sounders or Sporting Kansas City are not in the same class as those who start for Barcalona, Atletico Madrid, Man City and Man U.
That's like the Beloit Snappers playing this year's Cubs.

Greg, do we have a kid in this whole country that wants it as badly as the millions in
Argentina? I took this shot in Ushuaia*. T:45F + W:10-15 + light but steady drizzle =
wind chill of 32? I stood there and watched the utter concentration on his face as he
worked on his shot and knew that we're still decades from producing anybody even
close to Messi, if ever.

^^^ Cool pic.
Believe me, I am under no illusions about the quality and devotion of US footballers. I've seen that kid all over the world. In Ushuaia, at 15,000 feet on a dirt field in Bolivia, playing in a sandlot in Muscat Oman in 120 degree heat, kicking the ball down an alley in rural Iran, in a weed-infested town square outside Guadalajara in Mexico.
Somewhere there's a vid of Maradona when he was like 12 years old as a ball boy for Boca Juniors juggling a ball on his feet while being interviewed by a TV reporter who asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up and the kid answered, "I want to win the World Cup."
And then he went out and did it.

How many American parents would put their kid in a European club's academy system?? Even the most crazed soccer parents I know wouldn't go that far-- no freaking way.
