Not a ST regular but lurk sometimes.
Lived in San Diego during the early/mid eighties while attending SDSU. Climbed with many San Diego locals like Epperson, Ray Olson, Mike Paul, Ron Amick, Panic’in Manikin, the Almadovar bothers, among many others. San Diego was a great place and Woodson was always a kick ass finger-tweaker. I remember working Driving South on a top rope, Mike Paul would solo it between my tries and give me hints between bong hits.
Wish I could make it down, but live way too far away. Post pictures.

yo moonie, long time no see buddy. Some kid contacted me wanting to write a santee guide and wanted me to check his stuff. Man he thinks him n his little pals were the first ones to land at santee, so i straightened the dumb motherf*#ker out and told him them boulders were wore down to a nub when i started climbing there in the early 70's, and your crew aint sh#t. Im tellin you this because he was puttin down Yaniro as doing the FA of the aid crack. I told him i never saw yaniro here but one time, for the bouldering contest, when him and Moonie tied for first place and they used that climb as the tiebreaker. At this point i instructed him to sharpen his pencil and look at me when i talk so you can get it right. Not only did Yaniro NOT climb that route, my buddy Doug sailed past his highest thrash marks to win the thing, and got 2 moves from the top, with about a 12 pack of schlitz in him to boot. Im lookin out for ya pal.

Dude, Salad.
You can't be serious. I have a '87 VW Westfalia Syncro with custom plates, that is pretty cherry. Even a wrecked Syncro is worth something. Promise me you won't do this !!! You can sell it for parts. I'm interested!!! Hey, as time goes on OEM Syncro parts get harder and harder to get. Please, I beg you don't do this . . . Let's talk.

Is anyone bringing some rope for the non-highballers? I have a 60m line, but it's a pain in the ass on these shorter climbs. Anyone got a short rope?

Yeah, it's not the fall that kills you, just the rapid deceleration with the ground.
I busted my ankle on the robbins boulder last week, and I don't want to be landing on it if I can help it. I'm really stoked to be meeting you all.

First snafu of the weekend.
Scuffy_b calls me at 8:45 stuck at the airport. Seems he lost his wallet, had to go back to his house and get his passport to get on the plane. Missed his flight and landed at 8:30 instead of 3. So much for seeing sunset from atop Woodson.
Scuff gets owned at Hertz and they tell him to go to hell cause he has no drivers license with him.
He's on Cloud9 shuttle service to mi casa right now.

When ya tr at woodson half the time yer anchor slings are longer than the climbing cord cuz ya gotta sling a bush on the other side of the boulder and run it over the top (yah i couldnt afford a power drill, so what). Fallin sideways is a bigger risk than fallin downward on over the top anchors, an ive seen ppl fall, disappear around the corner and deck out a couple dozen feet from the base of the climb. Best thing to do is dont fall.
