I must tell you Jeff was here for about an hour yesterday--this may be why I slept allll day today. We were jamming with Skip Johnson, one of the guys from Merced High, and we had a great time yammering. But he had to split to visit his pop, Lem, still in the long-term care facility. He'd just come by to get some boards and material for some project and to say hi to his mom and pop. I had left a message at his mom's after calling Denise in Greeley Hill to see whether he was home because I felt like I wanted to speak to him. It's best to follow these prompts, I have found.
He told me a story about bouldering in Camp 4 in 1971.
Skeeter was there, Jeff, and Ron Cagle, not sure who else, he didn't say. As Skeet goes to tackle a problem, he hands Jeff his block of chalk, who then hands it to Ron Cagle. Skeeter jumps off the rock, asks Ron for the block of chalk, then sees a bite taken out of it.
"What the hell, Ron, this isn't edible."
"Yeah, well it tastes terrible, too."

I am in big trouble this football season, but the problem is so first world that I hesitate to put it here rather than in that thread.
I am and have been a Forty-Niners fan since Oakland pulled out of itself and then took itself off to LA to have the bastard child of Al Davis. He's a Hall of Fame prick in my opinion. Devil take him, despite the Lord's Prayer.
The other half of the problem is that I became a big fan of John Elway when he was at Stanford and this carried over to an enthusiasm for the Broncos. I fully believe one's entitled to an AFC favorite and and NFC favorite. You can see my problem, which has happened before, resulting in the complete jamming of the ball down the Broncos' throat.
I wish just once that the Super bowl would become a mud bowl, but that will never happen. They haven't paved Paradise yet, though.

She lived on the Feather in a school bus with her two boys and Rick. He looked for gold and they loved it. Lotta hippies around here.
She was a latin hippy, though, and we made up jars and jars of dible salsa under her mom's supervision. And hundreds of jars of tomatoes. We listened to some salsa, too. but not this one.

in south texas, yep, it was salsa, the ol' tomato/tomatoe kind,

cumbia music is a must, if you love to dance...

Hey mouse, one of the alternate selections on the video you posted speaks to me. The one with Muddy playing baby please don't go while being joined onstage by the stones.
My brother in law was present at that, or a very similar event. It was in Chicago. During one of the stones tours 78?, 81? Anyway they couldn't get tickets so they went to club to wAtch Muddy. It was packed, but the table next to them was empty, reserved.... You can guess what happened next.
Though he never got to a tour date that time around,I think Kevin was way more psyched seeing muddy and the stones in a south side blues club, at arms length, then he ever would have been at any stadium gig.

Music can't seem to be contained in borders. It starts somewhere, like Souf Texas, then works out the cracks and holes via your ears and you take it with you.
If you need to "blame" or "thank" someone for this method of bringing joy, that would be Euterpe, the "Giver of Delight." Her dad's the "Bringer of Mirth."

THAT was beautiful. Seeing two men embrace in such a way is heartening. It shows something. Love and respect, mainly. They are brothers, right?
I got to thinking about evasion of responsibility. My heart's sore, but lighter having done so. My stepson has a family of four. I have met just the older two boys. At last I have opened a line of communication there and have accepted my share of the blame for having cut myself off from the step-grand-kids. I sorta hate that word--all kids deserve love, all kids deserve the same as any others, the stepithet should be discontinued.
I had so little to offer for so long now, it's all under the bridge now. Being part of the Taco family has helped this come to pass, I'm certain.
My idea is that I may be able to influence the two older ones, since they know me, to try to climb. Not to push, but to offer it. I've bought a brand new rope to that end. I don't want any kind of safety objections, or anything else, to come out of the mouth of their mom or dad. He was the skater, remember, and owned Bueno Boarding and influenced many kids himself.
