Lessee....

It's been a long day, and although my laptop tells me it's nearly 11 eastern time, it's still before 8 out here, so lots of time to go.

Tried to do the Walk of Shame today, but Tom had already left the bridge. If he was even there in the first place. Maybe all those photos he puts up are just photoshopped?

Started out with a couple beers, finished the zin from last night, Josh made me a dirty martini [kinda lame, vodka not gin but still tasty] and then we cracked open one of David's cabs, a really nice 09 from Paso Robles. Hmmm, the martini glass has mysteriously refilled itself.

Aren't I supposed to post something inflammatory or something? I can't remember my own rules - sheesh.

Listening to Largo's tune by Lou Reed. I keep thinking Lou Rawls. Lou Rawls is a bitchin' jazz singer. Don't judge him by his "You'll never find....." pop tune.

I'm jealous of your good forecast, Fritz! It looks horrid here in the ditch. Wish I were in Idaho, not California. [How many times have you ever read that, eh?] I just ate the olives, both of them.

All right, all right - I'll bite. Please interpret the acronym, as David and I remain stumped!

PTPP: Re your request:

Spider's acromyn:

Tonight the TFNPWDP crowd shall lift a toast to Pete & David and their attempt on Lost World.

Very civilized to take so much booze on a big wall climb!
Please don't hate yourself or me.

Bombay Saphire with a good splash of Ponti dry Vermouth.
Shared with Red (my smokin' hot wife) on the veranda overlooking the Big Tujunga wash. An olive for dinner and a quick yucca flower appreciation hike.

Back again I'm preparing a new creation in this proper state of mind:

A yucca flower martini made with 3 parts Silver Patron and a splash of margarita mix with a server orange tendancy.

Raising a glass to good friends here on this thread.

Aaron - we did open another bottle of Toasted Head chardonay - not bad. However we used our Eisch breathable glasses while jammin' on piano and guitar. Our two best tunes we Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art.

Cheers,
PTL and PTP Pete

It's great to be down!

My alchoholism won't let me get drunk and post...

But in the spirit, I am relaxing on the porch and drinking an ice cold O'Douls Amber, smoking a La Gloria Cubana, and going between reading the Taco and reading a big wall book so I can have some idea of wtf I'm supposed to be working towards with all this gear I just bought.

Inflammatory comment as per Pete's rules: Bouldering sucks. Discuss.

(FYI I don't care really, hands on rock is hands on rock, but thems the rules haha)

Vegas Climber: Thanks for posting. I think an O'Douls and a fine cigar qualifies you to enjoy this thread.

Jim: Sorry to say----NBC news ended and the hocky game started-----and I went off to open a bottle of wine and help Heidi with dinner.

Check back with me when college football starts up. It is my only "team-sports sickness."

I find it tough to understand that all of America is not glued to the televised outcome of Vancouver VS. Boston for the Stanley Cup (Hockey ?...mmmkay)

Maybe they don't have television there yet? I read somewhere that most US homes now have electricity, though, so perhaps some time soon.

Just got home from sushi, saki, and a PBR. Went and check out the river before that. It's getting big.

Not a climbing question, but thought you might know, since you have the river photo?

Does the NPS ever close down Cataract Canyon due to highest water?? or do they just put the rescue boat in and go with the flow?

As far as I know they don't close it down. I've got a friend doing a private trip on Sunday in a sport boat.

I think the raft companies make their own decisions about how to run it. Mostly J rigs at this level.

A superb hike to Taft Point in short, sandals and no shirt pretty much the whole time, though all the snow got a bit cold on the feet.

Then jammin' in Yosemite Village with a really superb bottle of Markham Vineyards 2009 Napa Valley Estate - great stuff from TJ's.
