Take care not to overdo the bathing and stay away from the soap.

Soon it's summer solstice...

It's been three decades plus since 1984 and Gnuspeak is seemingly as dead as Esperanto, but then the tide of language change is increasing its frequency with each day, each post, in fact, in all the social media mediums.

The tie goes to the one who knows the least about nothing, not to the one who knows the most about nothing.

It is still a tie, so there is no winner and no loser.

And I wear my ties looser than most guys.

Tongue-tied and twisted, I.

Tie-dyed and two-fisted, you.

"My dad can beat up your mom."
"Hey, you've got some MIRV, buddy. Why, for two cents I'd...I'd...
I'd switch to Tide, just like my mom did."

And they buried him in borax when he died, Clyde.
And that's him drying on the shed, Ned.

What a Cosmic Coincidence...
I was hired on at Trona to work as an auxiliary power operator at the old power plant by Kerr McGee in the fall of '81. It was a job taken between jobs after I gave up on the fire service and I quickly discovered I would never fit with that kind of factory job. There was asbestos and other hazards galore and though my position was pretty easy, drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, make rounds, test chemical levels, water ph, lubricate bearings, etc., I felt like I was a stranger in a strange land, drinking at bars a lot and living in a state of personal disquiet, I left after only one month. There were two Amonia coolant leaks with injuries in the short time I worked there.

I was actually motorcycle commuting every night from Onyx and back where I was staying with Red, my moms boyfriend during my stint there. Those were very tumultuous times for me. I pulled truck parts to pay my rent, worked the graveyard shift at Trona, and even took a job painting a house for lady guard in Trona to make extra dough. After I broke a chain on my motorcycle, locked up the rear wheel and almost laid it down doing 90 mph on that hwy, something inside me said to move on and I gave my notice, got my last check, and left there. Greener pastures they say...met my wife to be in Sacramento a few months after that.

Ok here what I found, Borax is Found In;

Laundry Detergent (124)
Eye Drops/Artificial Tears (100)
Bath Oil/Salts/Soak (56)
Foundation (47)
Moisturizer (42)
Stain Remover (33)
Facial Moisturizer/Treatment (31)
Hand Cream (28)
Air Fresheners (25)
Contact Lens Cleaners (21)
Contact Lens Saline Solution (20)

(And hundreds of more products).

Well, that might just be a record for this second half of The Flames Games.

I checked my addition on this one, and my subtraction, too.

Elapsed time between the first post on the last page and the last was 6:39.

There are no seconds involved in the time, since there is no provision for that data.

Which brings to mind:
Thanks to all my seconds for the belays and the cleaning on our climbs,as well as for any "comestibles" that you may have provided before, during, and/or after our climbs.

Cheers!

The Sierra Nevada is right now under a tremendous load of stratocumuli.

My sympathy to all who may suffer wetting, thunder and lightning, hail, or aborted climbs.

Sh#t happeneth.

Thanks go to Bushman for revealing the truth behind the lies of the commodity merchandisers. Well, there are no lies if the labels check out, but WHO EFFINEW of all that Boraxo hath wrought?

The late Stephen Mather should be proud of what he accomplished as a hustler for the Smith interests. Almost as proud of what he accomplished as director of the NPS.

During his time in the director's chair he was mainly interested in promoting use in the parks, not so much preservation, as were subsequent directors. He liked the idea of roads, whereas the Secretary of the Interior under Carter, Cecil Andrus, wished that all parks could be roadless.

Where this is discussed in terms of Yosemite is in the book Yosemite: The Embattled Wilderness by Alfred Runte.

Sorry Cosmic, my stay at the plant was too brief and my mind too muddled and preoccupied to remember the names of any coworkers there.

In the interest of regression I read that entire Titties and Pancakes Thread in like three minutes, what a load, never gonna get that three minutes back. Some pancakes, very few titties. I did find this landmark of interest though...

Further studies of them thar clouds.

For my dad, Boomer, whose legacy provided me with funds for the camera.

It's a Canon EOS Rebel T3 and is manually focused through the augmented 55mm lens that Barbarian donated to the cause.

I'm trying to be worthy of your largesse, kind sir.

See you at Facelift, unless you'd like to try another dash into the mountains this summer. Let me know if that appeals.

Same ol stuff here. Mama possum and 10 babies killed by a car right out in front. One little one made it across the street and showed up in my yard.

I don't really care for possums (I have to hand it to them though for the feigning death survival strategy). So anyway, I had the little feller's life in my hands and I opted for taking him to the wild animal rescue joint.

"Be sure to wash your hands after".

I did.

Learned a few things too.

For example, I didn't know that many get work in the circus.

My condolence on the death of the possum posse, zBrow.
(I won't ever call you that again...I just thought I'd do it once and it would be fun...now I'm havin' guilt feelings. I better go read some Dr. Phil. What was I thinkin'?)

Duke cannot read. I wonder what he'd think of this if he could.
It was published in 1992.

For the record (erm...) the book mentioned by Cosmic earlier, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, first saw print in 1979.

It is of little consequence. There's been some de-bunking going on about that right-left brain stuff, and likely there always will be someone begging to differ with the other side, whichever.

Brain politics, so we'll just forget it.

I haven't bothered to read Estes' work, though Liz did and it appealed to her.

I haven't read much of Howl, for that matter. Too much time, too...
no, not enough of time, too many bewks. I'd never get that time back and I still wouldn't know much about female archtypes.

Why would the ladies be giving away trade secrets? Trick question. With women, there are many trick questions. A honeydew list shrinks in comparison to that list.
I'm shuttin' m'trap before I step in somethin'. I learned that from a guy's retaliatory book that came out in rebuttal to another women's dating book, The Rules by Ellen Fein, which sold like PANCAKES MADE FROM SCRATCH.

There are rules and there are fools.

I won't go into it now, because I have pizza from the Rescue Mission.

"Here, Duke! Want some pepperioni?"
"Rowf! Rowf!"

From scratch, too.

Flip Flop at Benton Crags.

In memory of Raja.

Beware, Bear

I smell you there
Your matted hair
The scent you bear
Of sh#t in the air

Bears thinking about

They stink of sh#t
Cuz they're full of it
Don't think for a bit
That they have any wit

I bark loud and give chase
He'll pick a tree as a base
He'll try to climb it all in haste
My time he will surely waste

He'll sit still on a limb
Of his Jungle Jim
Thinks I can't see him
Is he all that dim?

I return to the hall
At my master's recall
The bear starts to bawl
As he takes a groundfall

Poor mutt
