Randy, It has been ages and ages! I remember once hanging out
with you in Joshua Tree, and you gave me your Business card.
Randy Vogel -Attorney at Law,(right)? I am almost positive I still have it. I'm pretty sentimental.
Thanks for saying Hi, I used to love your company.
p.s. Your daughter is very cute, thanks for posting your pic,
this thread is so amazing. Love Nita ;-)
pss. It was my mom who was always sending cookies and treats.
edit, Where is your pic from - your younger days?

Wow, I'm seriously behind on my lurking!
I'm Ian Whyte. I earned my nick- and ST-names through a combination of New Zealand ancestry and apparent zest for long falls.

Rick, yeah I recognised that as the Mendel Couloir. Jaysus, BCD went DOWN that. It has always been on my tick list to go UP.
Almost did once. Claude Fiddler and I went to go do it in October 1976 and got up to Lamarck Col across the valley from the colouir when we got nailed by the first big storm of the season and it turned into a mini-epic.

I resemble that picture. I have one of me at the Rocktown in GA in full splendor but thankfully it is not digitized!

Thanks, Werner. I get a vicarious thrill with my girl’s successes, as do all the other moms and dads.
Do you remember Marsha as a nurse at Lewis Memorial (1972 and 1975)? She didn't think much of the lot of us, although she knew the type well enough. Now she is a star--even making our new Governor laugh.
The pictures of John, John, you, Peter, Vern, Rick and others I remember well in the Valley are great. All the great looking kids—some of whom are pretty grown up by now—are great too. It does occur to me that I may prove to be the most prolific lurker who wears a suit in all recent photos.
It has been a long time, but hope springs eternal. Still got my eye on Astroman (might have to leave it at that).
Best, Roger

I rarely ever post and basically just lurk every once in a while. I do love putting faces with names. I most likely failed miserably posting these pics. Thanks for the fun

Indeed I did fail miserably. I have a mac. Any help would be appreciated.

" So do we have a photo of the Original Crusher Steve Bartlett?"

I've been MIA for many years Ray.
My name came from my poor eyesight, which resulted in my near-non-existent footwork. Hence crushing the handholds...
A couple weeks ago, on top of a pile of petrified pastry not too far many miles from Piton Ron's backyard.

Cool Crunch!
The one thing we do have in common it seems, is bad eyesight! I'm blind as a bat but still a bit chicken to have Lasik. Glad you surfaced.

Raydog, thanks. But let me qualify a little. I did not climb Salathe; just belayed for a free climber. I don't include it in "walls I've done." But it is a cool pic so I put it.
Ames is a wonderful climb. I will probably never be able to lead the first X-worthy pitch -- ultra-thin ice, unpro-ed, vertical, to an overhanging move (undercut feet), yikes. The first pitch keeps folks off the route's WI4 second and third pitch. So did I "do" Ames, really? Probably not. So don't get too excited!

Ha, ha. Too much, Ouch. But, you know, if that picture ever gets out the property values will plummet. I'll never be invited back.
Cool boots--my Italian loafers were looking a little precious out in that high country--same elevation as TM.
