Melania Trump says she, not a speechwriter, wrote her speech, with a little bit of help
Hours before giving a speech at the Republican National Convention that has drawn charges of plagiarism, Melania Trump told TODAY she penned the address herself with very little help.
"I read it once over, and that's all because I wrote it with as little help as possible,'' she told TODAY's Matt Lauer in an exclusive interview on Monday. \\
should someone be required to proofread her stuff to make sure she did not steal it?

Yes. She is not use to what happens when you write a speech after looking at other speeches online.
Somebody should have been on this. I don't think it;s a huge injustice, but it's a bit sloppy.
I do not blame Melania. I blame Donald. He should have had hawks looking over her speech.
But then, he'd be called a "misogynist" again for not letting his lady speak her mind freely.

You are missing the point. The plagiarism wasn't a big deal, it was either naive incompetence if she wrote it herself, or incompetence or malicious subversion by a speechwriter if she didn't. Having swarms of GOP spokespersons denying that it was plagiarism isn't a momentary honest human mistake, it's emblematic of the Trump campaign and republican party approach to everything. DENY, DENY, DENY. LIE, LIE, LIE.

What we have is the first real post-modern Presidential election. Neither candidate, but particularly Trump, speaks with any particular grounding in, or relation to, any objective truth.

Edit: Upon reflection, Clinton does, often, make statements with grounding in reality. Trump's stream of consciousness (so to speak) is something entirely different.
