Years later the grazing rights were purchased by a conservation group of some type
That's an interesting twist. Not that it changes any of the legality or logic.

This appears to be a pretty reasonable report on the past couple of days events and current status. The video is worth watching to get the "local color"
http://www.8newsnow.com/story/25244692/nevada-rancher-says-us-may-have-damaged-his-cows

So I'm puzzled by something. Bundy and his son Ammon in previous days were in open defiance of Federal court orders. There had been scuffles between LEOs and Bundyites. Ammon had been arrested, taken to Las Vegas and then released without charges.
On Thursday the 10th the LV TV station 8 reports:
People are coming in from out of state to hold off the federal rangers and many are armed.
...
As for the fight between rangers and ranchers, the BLM agents said they felt threatened and were forced to use tasers, after a protester kicked a K-9.
So the BLM comes back on Friday to execute their legal orders and they bring some armed backup.
D'oh!
And then Ammon Bundy complains on Sunday:
Bundy now has a whole contingent of armed guards surrounding him 24 hours a day.

"They're just there, trying to make sure something crazy doesn't happen to him," Bundy's son Ammon Bundy said.
His security detail and family feel he is someone to be protected because of what the federal government could do.

"There were snipers on the hills and armed guards and you know, military forces with cameras all over." Ammon Bundy said.
Sounds like hyperbole but WTF did they expect? But of course that's a silly question.
The Bundyites were deliberately escalating the situation and provoking armed confrontation with Federal officers performing their duties. They were looking for a fight. They're likely pretty disappointed right now.

I think this entire thread should be included as an addendum to Licky's book. If you are going to make any (specious) copyright claims, get them out now, before the book goes to press.

Poor old marat they hunt you down
The bloodhounds are sniffing all over the town
Just yesterday your printing press was smashed
Now their asking your home address

Poor old Marat in you we trust
You work till your eyes turn as red a rust
But while you write their on your track
The boots mount the staircase
The doors thrown back

Poor old Marat in you we trust
You work till your eyes turn as red a rust
Poor old marat we trust in you

Areas where "free speech" is permitted is not a new idea, nor parade permits, fences, National Guard troops to protect fenced off areas.

Were you complaining at their earlier implementations?

The issues were a little different from whether some faux-cowboy got some free land to practice his trade.

NO ONE including Mr Bundy called for "escalation"

Wrong is right(winged) again...

“I’ve got a shotgun,” she said. “It’s loaded and I know how to use it. We’re ready to do what we have to do, but we’d rather win this in the court of public opinion.”

Really... ready to shoot when federal agents come to take YOUR trespassing cattle off FEDERAL land? That sounds a reasonable response.

Tell me Rong, how would you expect LEOs to respond if some Mexicans (legal US citizens) were camping on and vandalizing YOUR property and they said they were ready to shoot if anyone came to remove them? You know what LEO stands for, right?

And you support them Rong? No wonder you are no longer in law enforcement, seeing as how you apparently only believe in enforcing the laws you agree with and only when people you dislike break them.

"If people come to monkey with what's mine, I'll call the county sheriff. If that don't work, I'll gather my friends and kids and we'll try to stop it. I abide by all state laws. But I abide by almost zero federal laws."

uh... you are grazing them on FEDERAL land. You NEVER would have made it there if it weren't for the Federal Government. Merka, love it or leave it dipsh#t. Greatest country in the world... except the whole United part.

Ron
sounds as if you were there.

By the way, what is your Burns Brigade?
Does it refer to Union Army General William Wallace Burns of the Civil War and his Philadelphia Brigade? Who served as a junior officer with Johnston when he imposed Federal martial law on Utah in 1857?
The same General William Wallace Burns who fought with distinction to save the Union from the Confederate secession?

Speaking of the loathed Sen Harry Reid

He grew up not too far from Bundyland. Actually in the middle of the mountains west of the Colorado River.
In Searchlight. Go ahead, try to find it on Google Earth without resorting to the search tool. He's a Mormon.
He wrote a decent little book about what it was like growing up poor in a dysfunctional family in a dying mining town. A pretty hardscrabble growing up. He is not unsympathetic to the Little Guy trying to make his existence in the Nevada desert.

Old men playing make believe

They have no real power, it's purely imaginary

Living on the fringes of society, they huff and puff on the internet trying to out-crazy each other but when it comes down to it they're all talk

They'll die angry and bitter and alone having pushed everyone in their lives away with their obsessions and delusions

Weak-minded fools...if we ignore them they wither and die

These pansy asses were hiding behind the skirts of their women, HOPING shots were fired. They admitted as much, here's Glen Beck of all people calling them out in his media endeavor:

The Blaze, the conservative news site affiliated with Glenn Beck, flagged the comments made Monday by Richard Mack, identified as a former Arizona sheriff who had joined more than 1,000 other protesters alongside Cliven Bundy, who has been feuding with BLM over his use of federal land to graze his cattle.

We were actually strategizing to put all the women up at the front,” Mack said in a Fox News clip pulled by The Blaze. “If they are going to start shooting, it’s going to be women that are going to be televised all across the world getting shot by these rogue federal officers.”

Such tough, manly specimens.
