The First Amendment doesn't give you the right to be a d0uchbag.

And Lituya is not a troll as he doesn't try to push your buttons in a d0uchbag way.

1st Amendment also doesn't apply here since this is a privately funded forum in which you are participating for free. You can be deleted for any reason with no recourse. Just like if someone told you to leave their house...

My point was that I did not see any methodology behind who gets banned and why.

For the most part, when someone gets banned, it's because they're being a d#@&%ebag. An inflammatory piece of sh#t. IMO, that was the case with PC.

Sometimes, it's due to the poster being a long-term, low grade annoyance. Even though they don't really step over the line, my guess is the mods just get tired their schtick. Probably the case with Locker and Craig Fry. It's too bad they're gone.

As far as my lack of climbing content, I rarely climb these days. So my contributions may be a TFPU on TRs or the occasional link. There are plenty of others who mostly post in the political threads. Maybe you don't notice because you share their sentiments.

Spot on. Few seem to understand this, though.

I understand the distinction. A couple of semesters of Con Law in law school drilled that in. I was speaking generally. However, having explained that, my hope is that the site tries to keep that ideal in mind, though I fully understand that some users on this site make that difficult or impractical.

If people here want to take issue with the criteria that the mods have in determining who to whack, or what threads to lock, or whatever, I don't think there is any problem with that. I wouldn't be optimistic that it's going to make any difference, but have at it.

But to use the '1st Amendment' argument is just ridiculous. It doesn't apply here, in a privately owned forum. (Not trying to harangue you on this, FatDad...the '1st Amendment' argument comes from a lot of different people here.)

No worries apogee. No haranging taken. Re the forum: It's not my playground, so it's not my place to say who's broken what rule(s). However, in addition to the occasional climbing related query or post, I do find it interesting to see where people are on different social or political issues. Despite the opinions of some folks with whom I strongly disagree with, I appreciate the ability to hear different POVs than my tight little circle.
