That cloud low down looks like a sprinter starting to run.
Why, yes it does, Ollie.

Daddy, what's a non sequitur?

[Click to View YouTube Video]Better now?
No, not a bit. But may I have a cookie?
Look, why don't you just go and Google one?
I can't, Mom's watching her Giants/Anzac Biscuits Series on the computer. She's so convinced they'll beat them in four that she doesn't want to miss a single pitch.

Then just ask yourself, What would Madison do?

You mean the Madison River, huh? Cuz no river runs straight, huh?
That's my boy!
A lot of clout showing up on this page. Many...make that all...distinguished-looking gents. Florine, Honnold, Thomaselli, Zevon, and so on and before that we had Harding.

Turn around and you bump into somebody you know or have heard of. Sort of like Facelift.

That's a fine word, neebee. Technically, you needed an adjective, fruitful, maybe, patience yielding fruit in the manner of young Scott's getting better, for example.

His life has indeed been fruitioned.

His old clunker Chebby-car fell to me when he left the Valley in the eighties, thanks to Werner Braun. At the time, about all I knew of 'oor Scottie' was his routes on the back of Half Dome, like Autobahn. I never met him, but consider him a valuable person, despite any rancor and bitterness others may have toward him, I got no beef, therefore wish him a speedy, full recovery.

Here, I found this--
The recipient of two Presidential Civilian Bravery Commendations during his service on the Yosemite Search and Rescue Team for eight seasons, Scott, as part of a team, earned an Academy Award in 2005 when he received an Oscar for Technical Achievement for aerial camera rigging by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Scott is also an accredited member of the Wilderness Guides Association and a professional member of the American Mountain Guides Association as well as a PADI certified Rescue Diver.

Presenting Bobcat Brewery, Merced, CA.

Red, the bartender at Reinero's tonight, was wearing a T-shirt from the Bobcat folks, which reads thus:

"If we were any more local we'd be in your kitchen."

The following were taken in September last year and do not qualify for the Recent Sunsets thread. If they were any more local they'd be on my wall, not in my computer.

Yeah, that's me at age thirty-eight, almost an old man by certain scribes' standards. I'm thinking of Doug Robinson, just a few years older than I.

Gettin' back to the Doug Robinson thread without actually goin' there...

Many younger journalists haven't the foggiest of the history of their topics. They are assigned these and everyone hopes for the best, a lucky conjunction here and there, manner of speaking. The cub may have an interest, a GF who does this thing, or an old uncle who's just a weirdo who's been doin' it for however long. Otherwise, they know squat.

Fimrite of the Chronicle is a large exception here in NorCal. The only one of note.

So they set out to display their talents and we get to collapse in yukkage about their gauche treatment of the stars of our own private firmament.

It's silly to keep on thinking of our idols of our younger days as supermen and superwomen. They are at base just like us but gifted in the way they are. Many of the folks who had FAs of routes I have climbed or have wanted to climb and are listed in Roper's Green Guide, my old bible, have become acquainted with me and we have jived and boo-hooed together and even Boo-hugged on occasion, depending, mainly on whether we were visible, but we were drunk as heck and making the most of it so it's all good.

I've had a great time this past month. Thanks to all my buds.
