Remember the old saying: don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
No one made these guys break the immigration laws by sneaking into the US.
If they do that and get caught, it's basically on them. Not saying they should be mistreated, but making them do a little work to pay for the their upkeep seems pretty fair, unless you think they would be good with getting a bill after they're released?
So you advocate slavery as a punishment, even though several courts have ruled it illegal? Should the officials who advocate as you do, breaking the law, be sentenced to how many years of slavery?

Well. it turns out that Trump is really a bloody genius and is playing a really long game. From an editorial by Michelle Goldberg in the (fake) NY Times...........
Barr’s tweet, puzzling to the casual observer, was a reference to QAnon, an expansive, complicated pro-Trump conspiracy theory. The theory is fascinating as an artifact of our current political derangement, but more than that, it’s profoundly revealing about the lengths to which some Trump supporters will go to convince themselves that his presidency is going well.
As Paris Martineau explained in New York Magazine, QAnon was born last October, when someone claiming to have “Q” level security clearance started a cryptic thread on 4chan, the online message board and troll playground. It was titled, “The Calm Before the Storm,” a phrase Trump had recently used. Q posted hints, some in the form of questions, ostensibly meant to help clued-in Trump supporters understand what was really going on in Washington beneath the facade of chaos and incompetence. (“What is military intelligence? Why go around the 3 letter agencies?”)
From these clues, a sprawling community on message boards, YouTube videos and Twitter accounts has elaborated an enormous, ever-mutating fantasy narrative about the Trump presidency. In the QAnon reality, Trump only pretended to collude with Russia in order to create a pretext for the hiring of Robert Mueller, the special counsel, who is actually working with Trump to take down an inconceivably evil and powerful network of coup-plotters and child sex traffickers that includes Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and George Soros.
I'm not sure what the repeated child sex trafficking meme from 'conservatives' is about, but it certainly reveals some twisted, defective, perverted inner selves. Weird.

This is the news story going round now. Sure, t's easy to call it an unreliable source, fake news, speculation..... that is, if you lean more toward the Qanon side of things.
Most of this stuff has been discussed months ago, in the profiles of the people I have been following, but it's becoming a mainstream news story, finally.
Just a "coincidence" that Trump Tower had major Russian mafia people in residence?
How would YOU feel, if your landlord rents the apartment above you to criminals? Or when the neighbor down the street truns out to be a mob family?
How do evangelicals, able to forgive "sins of the flesh," justify cohorting with the mob. And not the US faction, where the FBI has some ability to staunch the flow, when it gets really insideous. But the Russian mob, who will kill anyone who gets in the way. Who regularly coerces pretty women to sign up for jobs as entertainers/dancers they put out as legitimate, but are actually just the pathway into sexual slavery. Who use some of these women for characters in sadistic and even SNUFF FILMS?

Investigators are believed to be looking into whether foreign cash got into the coffers of American political organizations and if this is how, the implications are huge.
Foreign contributions to U.S. elections are illegal. And people entering the United States must notify Customs and Border Protection if they're bringing in currency or "monetary instruments" worth more than $10,000 — or it can be seized and those carrying it potentially could face civil or criminal penalties.
So much for all the "Miami Vice" drama — who are these latest Russians? What put the feds onto them? Where did the money they might have transported into the United States wind up? As usual, the news accounts fall short of the complete story and only Mueller and his team know for sure.

Expensive real estate in NYC, as well as in SF, LA, Miami, Vancouver and other places, has been used to launder dirty money for years. The idea is to buy in with dirty cash, using an anonymous LLC to hide the buyer. A mortgage can then be taken out against the real estate to generate clean cash, or the real estate can be sold legitimately a few years later. All it takes is a seller who will accept a steamer trunk full of cash, and jet off to deposit it in an offshore LLC account of their own.
Russian gangsters are not the only ones laundering money this way. Drug dealers and corrupt Chinese officials are also sources of dirty money. Trump is just one NYC real estate mogul who has sold expensive apartments for cash to LLCs. About half of Trump's NYC apartments are owned by anonymous LLCs. NYC is now requiring that LLCs purchasing real estate disclose who the real buyers are.
Trump's connections to Russian money are quite deep. Trump SOHO Tower was financed with Russian money, via Felix Sater, who was also trying to get a Trump Moscow Tower built as late as mid-2016. The Moscow deal was abandoned about the same time Trump became the leading GOP candidate, and they started scrambling to hide his connections to Russia.

This story is only a few days old. Mueller has expanded his investigation to include Felix Sater and his connections to Michael Cohen, Trump's attorney. Felix Sater's name first appears quite far down in the article, but he is referenced in the first sentence as an "associate of the Trump Organization". Sater had an office in Trump Tower, one floor below Trump's office, and had business cards that identified him as a "Senior Advisor to Donald Trump" doing business at Trump Tower.

Werner, I beg to differ with you. I've been following this thing since about January 2017, and there has been been extensive cross-referencing on many of the points I have brought up over the time.
Worse - it just makes sense. The dots connect.
EVERYONE in NYC knew Trump was a thieving grifter. He just, simply, was.
It's not like he woke up one day and hatched this plan, and asked Jared to contact Putin and see what he thinks. He may well honestly believe there was no collusion, because he wasn't in on much more than someone slapping him on the back and saying "You will be fine president, my friend." I mean - can you IMAGINE having to explain things to that guy? He can't focus on much more than a pair of bobbling boobies in a low cut dress, and even that I doubt he can keep mindful of much longer than it takes to unzip and get his rocks off.

Pay NO attention to those indictment documents. They're FAKE! They're FAKE PAPERS, printed with FAKE INK, filed in a FAKE FEDERAL COURTHOUSE, by a FAKE SPECIAL PROSECUTOR, who has obtained a half-dozen FAKE CONFESSIONS from FAKE FELONS who worked on Trump's FAKE ELECTION CAMPAIGN with a motley crew of FAKE RUSSIANS to make sure that FAKE MIDWESTERN VOTERS were duped and deceived with the Russian's FAKE NEWS. And, just to be clear, there is no such thing as a FAKE DUTCH LAWYER who pleaded FAKE GUILTY to FAKE LYING to FAKE INVESTIGATORS about FAKE CONTACT with FAKE RUSSIANS, and he was never sentenced by a FAKE JUDGE to serve 30 FAKE DAYS in a FAKE FEDERAL PENILE FACILITY.
Robert Mueller's FAKE investigation must be stopped RIGHT NOW, or else the entire Fox News team is going to look like EVEN MORE like complete idiots in about three months.

XCon, those are good points.
Last week, I found out that someone I went to high school with had to have a lung transplant. He never smoked, was athletic, and otherwise healthy. But, he caught some kind of super-bug that was like a flesh-eating bacteria that destroyed his lung.
That type of health hazard is becoming more common with tourism, migration, etc. The incurable ebola virus from Africa was in the news a few years ago. Before that was Bird Flu from Asia. More recently, there was the baby-deforming Zika virus. The small town where Rocky lives is a magnet for tourists from all over the world, and he may have caught something that came into SFO or LAX on a Cathay airliner. Like foreigners who can drink their own tap water, but we can't, some foreigners may have evolved an immune response to a lung-destroying bacteria. They harmlessly carry it into the U.S. when they come to gawk at Hearst Castle, and then they transmit it to us at a restaurant.
People are probably instinctively xenophobic because experience has shown that outsiders can bring disease.
Acceptance of others is probably a learned skill that does not come naturally.
And, that would explain why uneducated people in West Virgina (a state with the lowest number of immigrants) are so anxious to keep foreigners out of the country.

"Russian Mob" is too general a term to have any meaning with respect to Putin.
Putin likes the Mob he can control, and he allows them to exist in Russia. Basically, Putin allows theft of public resources, as long as the thieves do his bidding and support him.
Putin hates the Mob he can't control, and he gets rid of them. He also tries to get rid of anybody else who opposes him (c.f. the Pussy Riot band).
The Russian mobster oligarchs that assisted Trump are in Putin's inner circle.
They're not the ones in exile in London, in a frozen Siberian gulag, or dead from Polonium poisoning.

Werner, I don't know. The people I have been following have detailed connections between mobsters and Putin. Say that the Russian mob is pretty much headed by old KGB guys. Of which, Putin is also.
It may be that the information I am seeing is false. But so far, these folks are the only ones to have provided what seem to be plausible connections, accompanied by documented historical data.
What purpose would it serve, in your opinion, to have people believing that Putin has been commandeering elections within not only the US, but also Europe. What purpose, to have (some) of us believe he is attempting to undermine, and even destroy, NATO?
What purpose would it serve - really - to have out country freaking the F out over all this? And having Trump supporters humiliated by these daily stories(if he is honestly doing the best he can, which I would think would have to be the case, if the whole mobster connection is fake)?
Also, do you think that the connections (verified and documented) of just soooooo many Russians of ill repute have connections, businesswise and socially, to Donald Trump, and to people Donald Trump heavily relied on within his election campaign are really just coincidental?
edit: Did you read the newspaper article I linked upthread? What is your opinion?(besides just sayng we're brainwashed. Seriously - that story is chock full of connections which have been and can be documented. To create that complex a cover story for...for what? ....would be extraordinarily difficult and have had to have been years in development.
And, if it WERE a story created by...I guess "the deep state," that would STILL have Trump being complicit in the whole thing. Sorry, but there is no.way.in.hell. that I am buying so much as an angry inch of Donald Trump being used for some world dominion effort by the US intelligence community.
