My buddy and I were planning on being up there this weekend. Planning on doing something either on LPP or the next valley over. We will probably run into some of you guys at the Stone House.

Mooch,
It sounds like the museum does allow alcohol. Yeah, I imagine we'll all be up at the campground by 7am on Saturday morning.

Since we won't get there in time for the Stonehouse hike/memorial, would someone please update the time to meet at the museum if you are still online and know?
Many thanks.

There should be a ton of pictures from this weekend - what a great time.
Hiking in Friday to do some work on the place, we got our first glimpse of the house with Lone Pine Peak in the background:
Skip cooling her heels in the creek after the approach:
I couldn't help it:
View from one of the West windows:
Skip painting:
Me reinforcing the frames on the windows and doors:
When we got back down we decided to hike around and check out the area around the Whitney Portal parking, as neither of us had bee up there. The waterfall:
More to come.

Bump for an amazing weekend...
Some of my favorite moments:
Mike O pulling the Brutus on me: I forgot to bring any beer up on Friday, and he whips out the excellent IPA to my Natty Ice craving.
That's what Brutus would do.
Bruce's brother Tim retold the story of Brutus recruiting a friend in Alaska to follow a creek to the ocean and be back the next day before the family's flight out.
This trip was spearheaded by Bruce, age 3. They made it to the ocean and were found tired and dirty.
When asked after the "rescue" (circa late 50's/early 60's? in AK), what he thought might happen to Bruce if he hadn't been found, his father replied:
"Proably taken a nap and headed back up the creek, and been home in time for the flight."
I laughed and I cried.
Post up, people.

We went to the film and slide show. It was a wonderful tribute to Brutus. So many really great folks gathered together to remember him...such positivity and caring. It was a special night.
Pat Brennan cracks me up like no one else. He gave a one of a kind slideshow of their northern Cascades escapades.
Jerry, thanks for the film and the defacto hosting. Well done.
Em - he'd be so proud of this weekend. I wish I'd been there for the Stonehouse.
Unfortunately I didn't take many pics at the film show so here's just a few from the weekend.
The setting: the film museum in Lone Pine, I kind of blurred it on purpose:
Two of my favorite climbers & Supertopians (Jaybro & Dingus):
Another museum shot:
Looking towards Whitney while climbing Premiere Buttress today:
She's so beautiful. Loved the slideshow on Brutus' "Hairline" route on Whitney Saturday night. What a great tribute to Bruce & Em. Here's a pic of Whitney today;

Still up - want to add pics from Saturday, but not many words right now to express the amazing gathering of spirits.
Oh, and I made Skip onsight that 5.8 on tall wall for breakfast:
Edit: Great to meet you too, Jerry! We went to the area by Gunga Din for a couple of routes, then headed home...

Seeing Valerio's video was a real treat! Meeting folks in person and seeing faces I hadn't seen in awhile was awesome.
I can see why Brutus climbed up there...
I can see why Brutus liked climbing with Pat...
and 3 or 4 times I almost ran out this door wanting to cackle and run naked up the hill...
cheers all...

Just got in, photos downloading,
An amazing and very special few days.
An amazing amalgam of people brought together through Brutus and Em.
I had never been to the stonehouse 'ashram'. It was truly the place for this; stoic and vibrant in a beautiful, powerful setting. From the terrace you spy a valley full of buttresses of Brutus climbs, as well as views toward Mt Whitney and Lone Pine Peak, truly a place with Power,
The stories, the music the people. The industry and goodwill generated by those inspired by Brutus was something indescribable to be part of. All of those people making the hike in the heat of the day, was fractal to the energy present.
The evening event had it's own surreal qualities. It was a very good sign when we arrived in various cars at the Movie museum to be greeted by Melissa & J, and Fluoride & beau ( I'm so bad with names).
The museum must be experienced, Western stuff, hollywood stuff, just the sort of ecclecctic moshpit that screams Brutus. Photos might give a clue of a taste...
I had never seen the movie of the Tempest, but I will get a copy, the Brutus remix is especially poignant. Goofy ol' Tom McMillan, even!
The slides, shares, wine and Pizza, lots of it in (no food) the screening room, with vintage western movie posters on the wall, was all it could be.
Back at camp by 11, or so, everyone was beat, but that didn't stop a festive campfire from insuing.
Sunday morning's dawn patrol coffee, followed by pastries, fresh bread, Brutus' elderberry jam and further reminicisses punctuated the weekend.
Add to this climbing, building maintenence, firewood gathering, dog antics (thanks Hanna), Baby moments to keep us groundes (thanks Caityn) swimming in the stream, and all the rest.

Hard to write through the tears...
I'm so very sorry I couldn't make it this weekend. Some stuff came up at home at the last minute that kept me here. I thought about Bruce and all of you at the gathering a lot over the last few days. Looks like I missed a great time.
I'll never forget the times I had with Bruce; his memory inspires me to get out to the crags as much as I can.
I can hear him now: "Lez go climin'!!!"
