Not to worry. The gulls will migrate away from the landfill to the newly refreshed ancient Lahontan as the water accumulates.

Well that's a weird pattern in the midwest. It's like God got on board with this recycling thing and he's sending the atmospheric river back up the Mississippi.

Levee breach near Manteca. All farmland, but a breach nontheless.

It was pouring and blowing hard here a few minutes ago. Dog won't go outside.

It's called an enema - people in the South do it all the time.

Hwy 50 is gone near Lover's Leap.
I just missed being in a 20' avalanche across Mt. Rose Highway last night.

It's a good thing that the rainy season is almost over ........in 100 more days.

The cards are stacked

Highway 41 CLOSED!!!!

Wednesday, February 22, 2017 12:06AM
OAKHURST, California (KFSN) -- On the way up to Yosemite, there are several signs in Oakhurst warning drivers that highway 41 from Fish Camp to the national park is closed.

It is all because of a shoulder on the road that started washing out two weeks ago. Constant steady made the conditions worse, causing the hole in the roadway Tuesday to grow in width by five feet.

"At that point our engineers, our safety staff, we decided to fully close the roadway in both directions to all traffic," said Cory Burkarth, Caltrans.

Frustrating...."We saw the sign...but we were thinking it would get better...but then we had to turn around."

[Stupid German tourists]

The emergency repair work is going to cost at least a million dollars and will take a couple weeks to fix.

OBVIOUS ALTERNATE ROUTE:
Folks heading up to Yosemite from Fresno will have to take Highway 41 to Oakhurst, then Highway 49 to Highway 140 in Mariposa.

(I'd say this would increase the driving time by about less than an hour, give or take, but you may drive faster, risking some poor bear's life. Just chill out and stop in Mariposa for some espresso.)
Also, evacuation orders expanded last night for residents near Coyote Creek in San Jose.

The floods is threat'ning
