Spider Savage gets it - great taste in wine, and he knows how to make a proper martini.
Vodka martinis are for James Bond, Dean Martin, and other savages, but not Savages.
Enjoying some Chilean reserve Carménère. As usual, the Chileans do a better job than those savages in Bordeaux, who typically over-blend the bejeepers out of their wines. Is there anything wrong with but a single varietal?! Sheesh.
Grande Vidure mon gros âne....
...and there's an unnecessary ellipsis for that dude who can't spell the word on the other thread where he was ranting about commas.

Just catching up on Saturday morning.
Last night started with an expensive Silver Patron margee at Chevy's, then home where my personal Italian chef (not rich, just lucky) served an incredible seafood meal. She picked up a a bottle of dry white sauvignon from Italy that was awesome. [Tonon Friuli, Grave Sauvignon, 2010 from Vittorio Veneto It.]
Instead of posting on the Taco my wife and I flew to the moon in our Meade LS 8" f10.

Home after a day of wine tasting in the Niagara, Ontario wine region. Just because you can make wine doesn't mean you should. Needless to say, nothing purchased. Heading to Napa in a few weeks.
Bought some Eisch breathable glasses, which have finally made it to Ontario, but only among a few select cognoscenti. There is an apparent catalyst contained in the crystal that allows the wine to "open up" much faster, and when you pour wine in a just-opened bottle into your basic Reidel and your Eisch breathable, the difference is astounding - you can't believe it was the same bottle of wine, except you saw it happen. At the first three wineries I visited, the wine pourers poo-poo'd my glasses, and refused to try. At the fourth, two open-minded gals did the taste test, and were - of course - blown away.
Eisch breathable glasses will completely alter the paradigm of the wine snob. You will never drink from a regular glass again.
Man, I hate Ontario wines. Nine days to Yosemite.

Going out drinking in celebration of graduating RN school! Plan on starting the night out with a nice Guinness or maybe a Oatmeal Stout of some sort, then progressing on to maybe a nice bottle of zinfandel! Cheers Pete! Can't wait!
