Yellow Pines!

Slowly I returned...scene by scene, frame by frame...

GREAT recovery!
keep taking them pics...

great cameras, sure do help, but the eye-and-spirit of it all,
is the 'one behind it'...

say, oh my, did not even think on this:

YOU were up at yosemite or not??
and NEVER did we all talk of YOU getting your BIKE!!!

oh my, :(

it is still there for you, :(

awww, and thanks for the notes of politeness, :)

and will go check out the link, too...

say, be praying--got some heavy stuff on my mind, as to some folks that
are dear to me... private stuff, as to their troubles, though...
but--prayers are welcomed...

You got it, sister.

You're my "stoned partner," as Jumpin' Vernon Brown used to say on KYOS 1480 AM.
You're esteemed, appreciated and quite talented, as well;
and it's so good of you to "treat" folks the way you do with your arts and crafts and paintings.

Today, Monday Monday, saw me up there again...wouldn't you just know it!

The bike will still be there, I hope, the next time. I'll check with you on that, Okey Dokey?

I decided Tommy T. needed a big thanky for delivering your Smillin' Sophie;
and so we made it to the six a.m. YARTS bus, pulling into the Visitor's Center around nine.

After refreshing our palettes with some ice cold bottles of Tioga-Sequoia products,
I took him to see Merry and they got to yammerin' about soup kitchens.
(Tommy T. just retired from a local public food service as a cook.)
So I went and bugged Werner to let me recharge my camera's battery,
and was he ever busy with the fed's fleet,
wirin' & measurin' & ohmin', so we sat in the Yosemite Cemetery,
Tommy & me, cuz the battery was dead so where else should we be?
When it was charged up again we shuttled to the Bridge and EC Meadow.
I lost a pair of cheapo reading glasses in my pack the other night.
I have only my old Rx pair. I'm having trouble focusing as a result.

Need to get another pair of reading glasses if I'm going to play this long-range lens and manual focus game well.

I'm not nearly as happy with the results from today's shoot in the meadow,
nor especially from the ride up on the YARTS bus.

^But you knew brother Vernon? (we called him vBrown) Ain't that somethin' else. Somehow he got his horns in an uproar and ended up on trombone rather than trumpet.

It may be some (Bridwell and Werner for sure) will remember Rod McKenzie from Camp 4 circa late sixties and early seventies.

(He may lurk here, but I doubt so, really.)

Shall we say that insofar as climbing went, Rod "knew his limitations."

Not meaning to disparage his climbing accomplishments, of which I am not informed, he was a part of our petite mis en scene...a quilt block or square, to use the neebean metaphor.

There were many in Camp 4 like him over the years: Not terribly sought-after partners, maybe a "last pick on the playground" type. And happy to be there in spite of this lack.

Rod had many interests, which you might check out on his Facebook timeline.

The last time that I saw Rod was at Tuolumne Meadows Store in the early nineties. My wife and I had not found Millis, who'd promised to be there to meet my new bride. Rod was there in his small RV, though, and we had a good afternoon playing memories for Liz.

The reason for my posting this is quite simple. Today is Rod's 80th birthday.
As Millis would say, Rod, "Happy Birthday, you old stumpfugger!"

Many happy days and years more is my wish-washy wish,
But I hope you get what you want for your birthday is my real wish.

Berg heil, back atcha!

Not meaning to disparage the "Mosaic metaphor".

But it's "Old School."

neebee's is "New Cool."Grout or thread, respect and love hold us together.

In "Locker's Case", equally famous as the aforementioned, the metaphor is of glue and rubber souls.

What's a good Camp 4 metaphor?

Hmmm...

Rod was "about thirty" when Rubber Soul debuted.

I was a Junior. (Delinquent Status did not quite yet apply.)

It's trundling time!

Everybody rock 'n' roll.

This is a "Ladies' Choice Trundle," fifteen minutes.

Next up is a full hour of "All Trundle Together Now."

There's something about a good trundle that speaks to all of us.It's way more fun than tossing chickens off El Capitan.

I have set myself up for a bald guy joke. Can you tell?

From Towers launch in Sylmar, CA to Mt. Lukens in La Crescenta, back past launch to West Towers, then back over the Pacoima Wash and beyond. 3 hours, 11 minutes. Challenging and rowdy conditions. Lots of live narration of the action and suspense as it unfolds. Video includes the first third of the flight. The rest is shown briefly in 3D animation in part 4.

I have no idea who these guys are, but they appear to like dogs, little kids, and motorcyles, so probably fit here as well as anywhere else.

Miss Koka, mixin' drinks.

Not the average woman.

The time I remember, Bevin and I were listening to KUOP, Friday Night Blues, and they played Koko Taylor's Down Home Blues.

I remember Stoh's and not much else.

A record or two.

Gimme those down home blues..."F=ing Christ! My parents are coming!!"

Sitting on the folks' front lawn, watching stars,

"I think it's beyond her ken, Bevin: It's only a record ot two."

Dream solo.Gimme Fever, John. USArmy guy, artillery spec., which meant he humped shells around the firebase.
(Firebase Naked City, in which there are hundreds of stories, nightmares, and recurring nighmares.

"I had a dream last night. There was no one in it. I was ALONE and SAFE!"

It was not much of a dream in comparison to, say MLK's, or Bob's 193rd (which is the number, BTW) Bomb Wing songs.

I keep thinking of Garp Sr. And floating.

Where the announcers know English and just refuse to speak it
Where the free climbing sucks and so does the pegging
Where people get jollies by walking and ferretlegging
And banana slugs dream of foxy white chicks
And everyone's touring and nobody lives there
They've all moved to Tahoe and Chico and Vegas
There's no one left in order to plague us
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard eight's a-gonna fa-a-all.
the beautiful Peggy and Throwpie. Well, she's more beautiful and a WEE bit smarter. She carries an umbrella.

And it's a hard pitch,
In fact a real bitch...And I'm gonna fall.
