Is Piper the one that preaches abstinence and still somehow got pregnant in high school?

No doubt it would have been considered an immaculate conception if not for SCIENCE.

They are extracted from the air, ice cores, marine sediments, water, etc etc etc

Precisely. Each entity you cited has a different absorption capability and rate. Correct?

Knotts,

what exactly is your POINT?

what is it that you want to see done or not done?

should "we" as humans just forget all this studying climate stuff?

are you expecting maybe a refund of part of your taxes is we stop studying?

what is your problem?

"absorption capability and rate?"

You have no fuking idea what you are talking about! If you were my 6 year old niece I'd find it really cute. But you are an adult, which just makes it sad. Spend some time learning something for a change. Question the bullshit you keep stuffing into that void you call a brain. In short, get a life Chief.

Are you now going to state that as Mr. Schmidt did, the earth is not dynamic.

Mr Schmidt said no such thing. You are either lying or stupid.

Here's a transcript of what he actually said at the point you mentioned:

"We have built a society, agricultural systems and cities and everything that we do, based on assumptions that basically the climate is not going to change.

The fact that we have so much infrastructure right near the shore is because we didn't expect the sea level to rise. The damage that we had from Hurricane Sandy was increased because sea level has increased by, you know, 10- to 12 inches in....."

Here he was interrupted by the interviewer.

When Schmidt says "we," he means humankind. All of us. What else could he mean? You think he, personally decided to place so many cities near the coast?

I cannot grasp how you could interpret anything from this interview as suggesting Schmidt himself thought the Earth was not dynamic.

Good interview, thanks. Schmidt did well, under the circumstances.

In short, get a life Chief.

my god!

I never considered the Chief is back under a new username!

same MO, same constant refusal to accept truth as tested by the world wide scientific community

except: the Chief was retired Navy and did say that he was on a fixed income and very worried that maybe someday he personally might have to pay an additional carbon tax of some sort.........

is that it knotts? or are you just envious that some people are actually getting paid money to study climates and you think this is easy money for indoor work and no heavy lifting?

What is the point of trying to engage Knotts in dialog. If you make a point using numbers generated by scientists, he says, "those are only numbers."

But then he goes right ahead and has no shame in using numbers to make his own points.

You cannot respectfully engage with someone who what's to own both sides of the coin. There is no attempt by such folks to understand, all they care about is that their point is the one to believe, and they will force their opinion on you.

sometimes it is just fun to see how stupid people actually are... like burning ants...

er, I mean, golly, the vast majority of scientists who have spent their life studying the complexities of global climate might have missed something. We best check with someone who followed orders in the Navy just to make sure.

OK, I'll give it that.

It's sort of like using a laser to play with a cat. You watch the cat running around, chasing an illusion.

But to me it's frustrating to know that this is the mindset that folks who are trying to make progress must battle. Simpletons who believe they have a grasp on things because they can understand a dumbed-down false narrative.

Have at it Knotts, give us your best shot. And go ahead and try to use numbers, the very thing you ignore when others try to show you the same.

Stop talking about burning ants! I stopped doing that along time ago and don't want to start again!

Fun fact I learned on stoopidtaco several years ago... you can burn other things with a magnifying glass... or your wide angle lens... if you happen to forget your lighter but have the other things.

It is especially effective now that the Earth is warmer.

Yes, a magnifying glass works quite well on a windy day.

That's all I have to offer to this argument. I'm not a scientist so I leave the science to those with the prerequisite background.

Fun reading though.

Hey, I even heard you can start a fire by forming ice into a lens. You just need some really clear ice...

Now that's a survival tip if I ever heard one!

You can even shape it! There usually aren't ants walking around though when there's ice

This prolly wouldn't work, it's got bubbles of ancient air.

How many comets would have to strike Earth to equal Man's CO2 output? It would be a ridiculous overwhelming number of course. Depends on the comet size, but the impacts would be harsh.....kind of what an ant might feel like when........

This is fun;

But how do you know that is ancient air? Do we really know the "absorption capability" of ancient air if nobody was around to measure it back then?

Dunno about comets but an EOS article a few years ago estimated that the Yellowstone Caldera super-eruption, which would devastate N America if it happened today, released CO2 comparable to one year of human activities.

Adding ~35 gigatons per year, year after year, is a lot!
