Mnemosyne (/nɨˈmɒzɨniː/ or /nɨˈmɒsɨni/; Greek: Mνημοσύνη, pronounced [mnɛːmosýːnɛː]), source of the word mnemonic, was the personification of memory in Greek mythology. A Titanide, or Titaness, she was the daughter of Uranus and Gaia, and the mother of the nine Muses by Zeus:
Calliope (Epic Poetry)
Clio (History)
Euterpe (Music)
Erato (Lyric Poetry)
Melpomene (Tragedy)
Polyhymnia (Hymns)
Terpsichore (Dance)
Thalia (Comedy)
Urania (Astronomy)
In Hesiod's Theogony, kings and poets receive their powers of authoritative speech from their possession of Mnemosyne and their special relationship with the Muses.
Zeus and Mnemosyne slept together for nine consecutive nights, thus birthing the nine Muses. Mnemosyne also presided over a pool in Hades, counterpart to the river Lethe, according to a series of 4th century BC Greek funerary inscriptions in dactylic hexameter. Dead souls drank from Lethe so they would not remember their past lives when reincarnated. Initiates were encouraged to drink from the river Mnemosyne when they died, instead of Lethe. These inscriptions may have been connected with Orphic poetry (see Zuntz, 1971).
Similarly, those who wished to consult the oracle of Trophonius in Boeotia were made to drink alternately from two springs called "Lethe" and "Mnemosyne".

Reminded of the story of Sam Stone who came home to his wife and family.
In it his boy is wondering where all the money's gone and the line I recall is
lethal pitchers have big ears
which means they remember stuff & sh!t.
But MooseDrool probably would call me on that.
Controversy abounds.
Thanks, Roy.

Oh, yeah, now I remember.
[Click to View YouTube Video]It's Andy Whitman, folks!
The guy with the unusually big ears.
We all know what they say about guys with big ears.
(I'll think of something. On the other hand, I may need to call in MM to save MFM.)
NotSoTimid, good morning!

Now that I got coffee-ed up, it's time to beat the banned.
Not only are they banned, they are taken out and brutally tongue-lashed by...help me out, guys.
What else might happen?
Put diapers on them and stick pins in them "accidentally" while doing so.
Get their favorite ice cream and put it in a bowl while they are bound and they gotta watch it melt in the hot Merced/Chico/Flagstaff/Chula Vista sun.
Greetings, everyone, from rSin, BTW.
He sends vibes. He's sent more than that, too.

Send: climb it successfully.
Descend: go back down.
Since many have not gone up the cable route on Tissyak,
but only down it, this might not appeal to them.
There are countless numbers of people who have done both.
There are countless numbers of people who might like to try it.
This is my bit for encouraging them NOT to try, to encourage them to be happy with this view, thus relieving the crowding on the route.
Either way, going up, going down, or going sideways, (*slurp*) enjoy it.

A race to the top of the Cable Route ON YOUR KNEES.
Pads mandatory. And good gloves, too. Sun hat. Sunscreen.
Maps obligatory. And compass, of course. I pod. Tripod. Camera, too.
It's a handicap race, see, based on a system yet to be determined.
zBrown been up & down
And lotsa others, too.
They sent the descent,
It's just a day's Class Two.
Stay between the lines.

Has anyone ever Mtn-biked up (send) or down (you send me) those cables?
Give it to me in plain black and white (or perhaps a plain zBrown rapper).

Fluff, son, mere fluff. Cute as the Dickens, though!
My sister-in-law had one, or was it a Newfie? Yep, Newfie.
