I picked up on that right away. Mccain's acceptance speech will electrify the base, capture the independents, and leave career politicians and Democrats dispondent.

Well, I'm certainly a Democrat, and none of those statements are true about me.
You can talk about Jesus all you want in your home and in your church. Or Allah, Yaweh, or Buddha. Just don't do it as part of instruction in public schools.
I'm fine with people owning hunting rifles, and shotguns and handguns for self-defense. But I think there should be stricter purchasing requirements, training requirements, and enforcement of existing laws should be better.
And I'm all for reducing the number of abortions. Maybe even limiting third-trimester abortions except to save the woman. Best way to do this is to prevent unwanted pregnancies to begin with. And that doesn't mean only talking about abstinence. Might be nice if more health plans covered contraceptives the same way they cover Viagra.

That's right, LEB! - anyone over age 14 should be completely responsible for himself/herself. It's never the fault of their families if they're out on the streets, using drugs, out of school, committing crimes, getting pregnant, or on welfare. And they undoubtedly have the wisdom and life experience to make all decisions for themselves. No need for the family to have any responsibility.
I wonder what the would-be husband of Palin's daughter has to say about all this? Perhaps he's being forced, or bribed, into marriage.
While you're at it, don't forget to reinstate capital punishment for those under 18.
Family "values" sure are great, eh?

I'd agree with you Lois, if you'd also agree that behavior of consenting adults is their own business and that gays should be able to marry and adopt.
Unfortunately, people like Palin insist on pushing their "family values" on the rest of us, so is it any wonder that some of us feel that it's a little ironic when the shoe is on the other foot?
This is along the same lines as Limbaugh abusing drugs.
Or the fact that the Catholic school where I grew up had higher rates of alcohol abuse, drug abuse and teen pregnancy than did the surrounding public schools.
